Brilliantly crafted story that is very hard to review. I don’t want to give away any of the amazing twists in this suspense filled novel. As a kid, James struggled to make friends and then one day, out in his favorite spot in the woods, he meets AJ. They become fast friends and he finds comfort hanging out with AJ. As we get to know James, we learn he’s seen as the nerd at school and gets bullied. Then his family moves away so he loses his only friend, AJ. When they return to town 5 years later, James is struggling with nightmares. His parents had him seeing a therapist to deal with his erratic behavior while they lived in Ohio. To me, James is a shy kid that struggles in social situations. As we live through his eyes, girls start to vanish in town which gives us this complex mystery to uncover. It feels like James is finally fitting in, he even has a girlfriend. I truly didn’t see where this story was headed. I loved the twists and turns and you just need to read it to experience for yourself. It will keep you guessing.

Definitely full of intriguing mystery around each corner. You think you have an idea about what's going on, but in the end it's like life do you really know?
After leaving Oakridge, the town he'd grown up in and moved away to Ohio James was happier, until his father moved them back. There were too many memories he'd buried about this place, he just wanted out and never to return. This is definitely not a love story, but well a well written suspenseful mystery. J.C. Valentine can write ant genre and you're sucked in waiting to see what happens next. I received an ARC via IndieSage in exchange for an honest blog tour review.
