Released in 1981, at the heyday of the slasher genre when slasher films were being turned out a dime a dozen. This is a typical run of the mill slasher of the day. Nothing special in this film about a burn victim who gets revenge on people on a campground. Mediocre acting, weak script doesn't help this film much. For die hard fans of the genre only.

Killer 80's camp slasher in the vein of Friday the 13th. Awesome transfer and special features as always from Scream Factory.

The Burning (1981) has a more believable story, better acting, is more suspenseful AND has better effects (Tom Savini). Plus, we get George Costanza. This hidden gem is more than worth checking out, especially during the Halloween season. I enjoyed this film to the point where I could just watch it without any of the kills, just being in that 1980s camp setting. While there is a low body count, the kills themselves come at completely unexpected times, something that Friday the 13th didn't start doing until the FOURTH movie. This was also one of the first banned movies in the UK.
