Product Description

Shakespeare believed there was always humor in tragedy and tragedy in humor.

My life proved his theory as fact.

At eighteen I was a single parent moving to this small town to be with the man I loved. The one who was supposed to love and cherish me in return.

Finding out he had a wife was tragic.
Remaining in love with him in spite of her was more tragic.
My mom and best friend setting me up on a long string of blind dates was an ongoing tragedy.

Nine years later, I’ve learned to see the humor in most situations.

My mom and best friend setting me up on disastrous blind dates.
My son’s jokes.
The fire alarm going off each time I cook.

My constant bright spot always adding to the humor was my son, Hayden. But when Hayden had a life-threatening allergic reaction, the man who came to help my little boy became my own savior. His laugh, his smile, and the way his eyes lit up when he spoke to my son made him a beacon of light in both our lives.

But I wasn’t the only one who noticed him.
When I began having feelings for the man my best and only friend had fallen for, I knew following my heart would once again lead to a fresh round of heartbreak.

Love led me to this town.
Lies kept me there.

Would history repeat itself?
Or had life just thrown me another Curveball?

Ella got pregnant when she was 17 and was so in love with the baby's father that she moved to the town where he lived ... only to find out that he already had a wife. Nine years later, she's still waiting for him to leave his wife for her and their son. She has withstood harsh ridicule from the whole town ... calling her slut and home-wrecker. The only friend she has is Rachel, who stands strong by her side. Rachel and Ella's mom set her up on all the dating sights, in hopes of Ella finding someone else and forgetting about her son's father.

When a hunky firefighter (Coen) moves next door to Rachel ... both women fall for him. But Ella can't tell Rachel she has feelings for Coen because Rachel is her only friend. When Coen saves Ella's son life, they start a secret affair. For Coen, it was never a choice between Rachel and Ella ... he always only wanted Ella! There are lots of twists and turns that will keep you captivated. I could not put this book down! It is such a compelling story and you will never forget the characters. I highly recommend this book!

I received an ARC copy courtesy of the author in exchange for a honest review.

Mariah Dietz's Curveball was thrown straight to my heart! The uniqueness of this story overwhelmed me as a I read it. Sometimes as a reader you just crave different....Curveball is what I was craving.

Coen is a firefighter. Ella is a working single mother. Their lives are extremely different. What could bring them together?! Baseball, of course. Ella's son and Coen share the love of the game.

Ella is scared to share or feel love beyond the safety she has with her son. "When you give your heart away there’s no way to fully get it back. Pieces will be left behind, lies will drill holes, deceit will cause cracks, and the feeling of being unwanted will create a doubt your heart was ever whole."

Can Coen change Ella's feelings? Will he throw a curveball at her life? Does she believe she has a chance at happiness? You will have to read to find out.

Thank you, Mariah Dietz, for Curveball. I truly loved this contemporary romance. I recommend this book to all readers of romance. An absolute must read!

Wow, just wow, this story definitely made me feel all the feels. Reading this book was like putting together a puzzle...Mariah does a good job of giving us a little bit at a time, keeping the reader engaged and curious. Ella and Coen embark on a relationship, but it's a just friends relationship, because anything more would be breaking the rules, the rules they've both imposed on themselves with their dating boundaries. Finally, they throw those rules out the window only to have so much angst thrown in their paths I wanted to cry. I don't know if I've ever hated people more than I hate the judgemental, small-minded people that live where this book takes place...gahhhhhhh! Then there's the ex who made me want to throw things! Holy crap, this story elicits very strong emotions!! Mariah Dietz has outdone herself.
