Product Description

A clash of wills between predators…

He’s been living underground for a long time, but the only thing guaranteed to bring Daniel Nieto back to the surface is the identity of his wife’s killer. With the whisper of one name, he puts it all on the line for vengeance. He’s got plans for Stavros Konstantinou.

The title of monster fits too well for Stavros to want to be anything other than what he is. Time spent in Daniel Nieto’s dungeon, chained and tortured, will never change that. Starved of food, sunlight and freedom, he waits for an opening to turn the tables on the only man who’s ever come close enough to scare him.

Somewhere between the slide of knife against skin, and the drip of blood on cold concrete, things change. Grief and hatred collide with lust and obsession, and this time Daniel and Stavros are on the same side. This time, they’re fighting a losing battle against a connection forged by much more than a love of violence and bloodshed.

In a war this bloodied, what do you do when the bodies start hitting the floor?

I love this series! It is a little dark and a little twisted and definitely not for everyone. However if you don't mind dark, dangerous and twisted then you won't read a better series or a better writer. As always I've just finished the book and am anxiously awaiting the next.

Boy am I glad I stumbled onto this book! It is so well written, I say this due to the fact that the characters are so well developed that there inner dialogue is actually cohesive with their actions, which I rarely read! I never looked at who wrote this book, but whoever it was wrote in such a way it actually read out as if it was a male as intended! I draw attention to this because often when I read (which is a ton) it seems as if a girl is thinking it! If that makes any sense? Lastly, I hope the author knows how much I appreciate and enjoyed how well this story was written and for sharing their gift!

5.0 out of 5 stars Dark, Twisted, Sexy and I Loved This Book May 14 2017

Avril teased fans with the Daniel and Stavros story in the Loose Ends series and her group FB posting. And it was well worth it because she over delivers. Fans know the type of unrepentant hot alpha appalling bad boys that she brings to the table with MM “erotic mafia/cop genre.” While your conscience tells you to condemn them for what they have done, doing and will do, your heart says screw that.

I thought I had my all time favorite series couple with Pablo and Dev in Sinner, Savior, but they have moved solidly to second place once I met D and S.

Cartel boss Daniel Nieto prepares to torture, break and end the life of Stavros Konstantinou, the hired killer and member of a Greek mafia empire who took his wife, world and left him with painful internal and external wounds. When Stavros finds himself paying penance, chained, beaten, caged and enduring colorful showers, at Daniel’s command, he promises not only would he get out alive, but would make his captor pay in death, but not before getting on his knees and in his bed.

With a twist of fate, Stavros is in a position to follow through on his vows and strong-arms Daniel to come to heel. The forced capitulation leaves Daniel conflicted, angry, guilt-ridden and confused about the powerful attraction that the handsome Greek has over him that was superseding the need to kill him. Neither does Stavros grasp the powerful pull beside the revenge that drew him to Daniel.

Avril is classic Avril her in her ability to deliver some creative mob violence that will have you going “Damn Avril, you really wrote that”? Two scenes made me just shake my head and give a freaking thumbs up on how her mind even put that together.

I would be remiss if I didn’t mention how she genius-like invites us to share their pain and true motivations about the trials in life that have men them the men they are. And why they get each other.

And the sex? There is a reason why D and S are now my series faves. She had me really digging on the sex warped stuff that had me questioning my sanity about loving it. But oh well.

I also from the bottom of my heart appreciate the older characters in a romance/erotica book world that are difficult to find.

Do I suggest reading the prior series if you are new to Avril’s work, starting with Brooklyn Sinners and then Run This Town? Hell yes! Necessity? No, but she suggests on her FB page starting with the Loose Ends Book and you will be good, but she does a good job “filling” you in in CTC.

Call the Coroner was a Mother’s Day weekend treat for me. Five enthusiastic stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars Oh Diablo! What a ride........ May 16 2017

I have been an Avril Ashton fan for quite some time and I have the pleasure of owning all of her books because I find myself re-reading them often. I didn't think I would love two characters more than Xavier and Dima (From Watch Me Break You) but boy was I wrong. Stavros and Daniel were bloodthirsty, brutal, conniving, brilliant and sexy as sin - but once you saw their soft sides it just all fit. They have moved to the top of my list!

This book is very dark and in the beginning sometimes made you uncomfortable. Mrs. Ashton did a beautiful job showing how two men can slowly burn for each other in the darkest of circumstances. I think the biggest surprise for me was Daniel, whom we've met before and have been lead to believe he is a total monster. As you read, you slowly get through the tough layers to find a beautiful man who has done the best that he could to survive and continue moving on day after day. Throw Stavros into the mix, who is just as depraved and broken, and you can totally see these two becoming so important to each other.

This book is hardcore and not for the faint of heart, but it is an incredible read. I'm anxious to see if we get to learn more about Toro, that would be an interesting story. Of course, the teaser for the next book wasn't bad either. Anything with Syren is a joy to read - that man is "the" architect (yes, I made a Matrix reference). Syren is almost frightening but oh so likeable. Thank you for the wonderful addition to this interesting series. I highly recommend reading this book. You will get more enjoyment if you read the "Loose Ends" series first but it is not needed to enjoy this book. Another fantastic book Mrs. Ashton - I can't wait to see what you come up with next.

5.0 out of 5 stars This book will blow your mind! May 23 2017

5 stars to this beautifully dark and twisted book. You fall quickly into the madness that this author has created and these characters keep you guessing until the very end! I loved that this story featured unique characters that represented multiple aspects of LGBTQA umbrella - including a 49 yo MC who found out he loved a man ... but, this story was so much more than exploring sexuality. There is action, mystery, and it is dark and wicked. If you get easily offended-- might think about skipping this book. However, if you like a little dark, with your twisted..sprinkled with blood, carnal pleasures, and finding love in the least likely places....get this book and enjoy!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved This Book! May 9 2017

I absolutely loved this book! I believe its the best book in the series so far. To see two equally powerful men collide into one of the most brutal, beautiful, gut wrenching, twisted, and all--consuming passionate relationship, kept me on the edge of my seat. Don't get me wrong this book was violent--and is not, I repeat is not for those who are looking for a rose scented m/m romance. The chemistry between Stavros and Daniel was explosive and untamed--I loved it. After reading this book--I want more, and hopefully a sequel with these two characters in the future.

OMG!!!!!!!!!!! Call the Coroner blew me away. Avril Ashton always delivers. This author will take you out of your comfort zone.
A rollercoaster ride where you hold your breath & hang on for the ride of your life. A story where the bad guys hand out their own system of justice.
Daniel sure did that in spades. Even through these guys are on the wrong side of the law she will have you rooting for them.
Stavos/ Daniel heavens they are sizzling they burn up the pages. I couldn't put this book down. This is not for the faint of heart no fluff story here.
I have read & loved all Avril's books. For me it is hard to say which is the best of her books as every story holds it own worth.
But I must say this one like I mentioned at the start of my review just BLEW ME AWAY!!!!
Call the Coroner great title/ Great cover/ Fantastic story. Avril Ashton is always an auto buy for me.
