I so agree with what the other reviewers said. The essays on the 4 seasons are the real stars of this book and actually outshine the 260 photos in my opinion. They read like poetry, inspiring pride in our country and what it means to be a Canadian. Follow it up with a few books by Pierre Berton and you will start to swell with love and pride at all it means to be Canadian, maybe even ready to stand up and sing "O Canada" (in polite Canadian-mode of course!) as enthusiastically as our neighbours "down under" do their own anthem. I heartily recommend this volume as a meditation to soothe the soul and spirit and as a companion with which to consider and enjoy each season.

This book is amazing. I got it at a second hand store for $4!!! Bought it for the beautiful photos, but in my opinion the real gem is the text. there are only a couple of pages describing canada in each season, but it is so wonderfully and poetically written it brought tears to my eyes and I could not put it down. Fantastic book for anybody who lives in canada.
