I've had this watch nearly a month now, and its pretty good for its price. I only expose it to a few minutes of sun a day and it stays fully charged, very efficient, and I look forward to not replacing the battery. The body and wristband seem to be quite durable as I bump my wrist into a lot of stuff and theres not even a chip in the plastic. Water proofing is also excellent, its rated for things like swimming and such. The moon chart is a nice plus as I use a telescope a lot and can easily tell what phase the moon is so I know how bright it will be. The amber LED backlight is a lot easier to read than EL backlights on other watches. The only problem I've found with this watch is that the glass for the display isn't that strong because it got a noticeable scratch the first day I wore it.

Pros:
-Efficient solar power
-Durable Body
-Moon phase chart
-Easy to read at night

Cons:
-Display glass isn't that strong
-Looks plasticky

I'm not a watch expert but I know what my personal requirements are.

To start with, I have used several Casio products in my time and I have not had a bad experience with any of them.

I prefer function to flash. Having said that, this watch has an appealing, rugged design.

Functionally, this device has a lot more features than I really need but it allows you to setup the services/features that you need and ignore the ones you don't.

For me, those are the time (in one time zone) and the tide state ...maybe the date.

The thing that caused me to finally buy this watch was the SOLAR POWER. It is pretty hard to beat never having to change a watch battery again, no matter how long they last.

I'm very pleased with this purchase and would certainly do it again.

this watch:
1 looks great on your wrist.
2 the fact that it is solar powered is awesome because it always stays water resist.
3 although i didn't use its tide graph and moon phase but they work as they are supposed to.
but...
1 the screen is smaller than what you think.
2 the blue color is not that much visible indoors due to the fact that it is combined with black.
3 if you are of those showing offs, then it is not a good idea buying this because whenever i asked people how much they think i payed for it, they said 20 bucks or less!

I was looking for a decent priced casual watch and I ended up buying this one. I was most impressed with the solar powered aspect to it as its better than having to change the battery all the time. I've only had this watch for a couple of weeks so I can't say a lot about it however I can mention that it has a nice fit to it (at least to my wrist and my wrist is small). It looks nice in my opinion (there is a lot going on - on the display however you get used it). The only downfall to this watch so far would be that the initial set up process is a little challenging (if you don't read the manual) as well as it does not have an Ontario standard time like Toronto so if you are from Toronto or Ottawa or any other district in Ontario that uses EST you would have to set your watch for NYC time.

I usually go for analog watches when purchasing a work watch.20 yrs ago I bought a casio which lasted me some 6 yrs...it unfortunately got smashed at work... but it was still going strong. Someone suggested the other brand...takes a lickin and keeps on ticking. ...which was ok the first... but I got about 3 yrs out of it...they were quite heavy and clunky for a physical job...watch bands kept breaking...so I recently went back to casio...this time I got a digital...solar...so far it is awesome...lightweight...keeps accurate time...the only thing is the solar...I work in the far north...most of the winter I stay covered up pretty well...so the watch does not see much natural daylight...but so far so good...

Had this watch for about a year. From the get-go the solar charge indicator was faulty, always indicating MEDIUM, no matter if it was in or out of the sun for days on end. Still, I decided not to return the unit as all the functions seemed to work fine, regardless. Now, a year later, watch will not re-charge out of flashing LOW setting, no matter how long it's in direct sunlight. A shame. Liked the look and feel of this watch very much, and as a very eco-friendly dude, the idea of the solar power had great appeal. But what's the point of a solar-powered watch if you have to toss the whole thing after only a year?? I've had cheap $10 watches that lasted longer than this one.

I bought this watch so I'd know when the beach was exposed for walking my dog at low tide. It doesn't give enough information to know just how low the tide may be, but at least you know when the water is up or down. That can make the difference between a walk in the woods or a walk on the beach. Anyway, I don't have to check the tide tables any more! Very helpful. The solar power feature is nice too. It was fully charged up (from half charge) in about 30 minutes under full sun. Not very flashy, but gets the job done.
