Product Description

The perfect British comedy romance mystery.

They called the summer of 1967, the Summer of Love, and it changed everything... but is the love still there fifty years later?

George Spencer is desperate for romance but he doesn't have any money, no direction in life and, what's even worse, he lives in a shed. He wants to make a change but he needs a miracle to happen.

Claudia Siddington is desperate for her husband to be elected as President of the golf club but, when a secret from 1967 is revealed, she soon becomes obsessed with its retrieval. She'll do anything to get her hands on it, even if that means mixing with the likes of George Spencer.

A hair-brained adventure soon unravels, taking them on a wild summertime goose chase towards the most unexpected of discoveries.

I would highly recommend this book as a must for any avid reader whom enjoys humour, love, suspense and action! I was lucky enough to receive this book as a "first read" and the story exceeded my expectations completely!

This story is one of many layers and characters that cross each others paths in such a creative way that makes me give great praise to the author! You will find a lot of humour which makes this such a great read! The writing is nothing like I have read before and you are pulled in right from the start! The inheritance was very imaginative and fitting of the character which definitely added to the laugh factor! If you are looking for a great story with a side of humour then this is one to read!

I look forward to reading his new title in 2014!

This book was quite different from a lot of books I've read. It was a bit absurd, but that's what made it so good. It was quite hilarious, and would recommend this book.

HASH(0x9d7c530c) out of 5 stars Summer in the prairie April 28 2011
By wogan - Published on Amazon.com

I'm a huge fan of Garrison Keillor and his Prairie Home Companion show. I listen every week and see him every chance I get. There is absolutely no one better at storytelling than him and if you have ever heard him perform in a city you love - his descriptions of his visit there and what he has seen are astute and wonderful and poetic. It is a shame that could not have been included on this CD, but then there were so many cities that this tour went to.

What this two CD album has are the highlights of what was performed in every city; songs such as; `Under the Stars`,' Frankie and Johnny`, `Unchained Melody`. Commercials for Powder Milk Biscuits and Beebopareebop Rhubarb Pie are included as well as Guy Noir and The News from Lake Woebegone.

It doesn't match a live performance, but what does?. The biggest disappointment was the sound quality, it's a bit murky, probably because it was recorded from the stage and the volume is not always constant.
But fans of Garrison Keillor and Prairie Home Companion will still enjoy this 2 disc set.

HASH(0x9d7c5558) out of 5 stars A delightful evening of song and story. April 24 2011

I was fortunate enough to see this program live at the Meadowbrook in Guilford NH. It is an open air venue which added to the magic of the performances. GK, Sara Watkins and the rest of the Companion troupe provide a seemless event. I had never heard Sara perform before that night and became an instant fan and checked into her catalogue of music. That lady can sing like an angel...and man can she play a fiddle. I'm glad they recorded the special presentation because I enjoyed it all so much and look forward the Love Tour 2011......

HASH(0x9d7c5798) out of 5 stars Lovely Summer Memories May 17 2011

I received my CDs in the mail this afternoon and I imported them onto my computer and started listening to them right away. The tracks on this album bring back so many great memories from last summer. Listening to them again make me even more excited for August (when Garrison and the Guy's All-Star Shoe Band will be back in Grand Rapids for another Summer Love tour). Thanks also to Sara Watkins for her amazing musical talents and great sense of humor!

Whenever I'm in need of a mood boost, I seek Garrison Keillor. His gentle humor is laden with wisdom. And he's a romantic, just like me. I will play "Summer Love" often this winter ... it gives me hope. I'm so happy I bought this gift for myself;-)

Yep, loved this. I'm not a writer as you'll pick up from this review but Mr Holley clearly is. I read this in approximately two days. Laughed about seven times, and anyone who knows me, knows that is six to seven times more than normal books. The book manages to combine ridiculous situations with genuine empathy for the characters, a combination often difficult to find. The thing about the ridiculous situations is that you can always think of someone you know who with a stretch of the imagination could get involved in them, there's certainly a few people I can think of. I recommend reading this when life has become too serious.
