I have chihuahuas and they'll be just fine in them.
Sturdy, easy to put together. It comes with an allen key, but you will need a philips screwdriver to put it together.
Came well packaged and in excellent condition. Easy to understand assembly instructions.
The doors need to be kind of lifted in their spring loaded fixture. This was no problem until the first time I went to let my dog out, the little knob to slide the latch over came right out of the bar. So I had to push the rod out with the allen key and now the allen key is what I use to latch the crate shut :(
I will have to go buy a better quality latch from home depot.
10/10 and looks amazing.
Top reviews from other countries
• It's a table dog crate. It's genius!
• Not an eyesore like most standard "dog crates"
• Perfect for dog owners who crate their dog(s) and don't have a lot of room/space. Since the crate is a table, you get a product that has multiple uses.
• The tables are sturdy.
Cons: If you're like me and have dogs who have been crate trained for a long time, these tables will be an adjustment. Used to just have to holler out "Beds!" And my dogs would run to their crates & get in. They seem to be slightly confused by the tables being "beds". Lol, but they learn fast.
SIDE NOTE: I would not recommend these to animal owners whose pets are not at all familiar with crates or completely crate trained. I would not use these to start crate training a puppy or an animal that has "accidents" regularly inside the house. Simply because when beginning to crate train for the first time, especially with puppies/young dogs, accidents are bound to happen. These tables are exactly that: tables. A large amount of urine or a pee puddle that isn't cleaned up IMMEDIATELY would probably warp/ruin the floor of the table crate. Regular dog crates are usually either hard plastic or metal wire with a plastic bottom, which aren't affected by accidents/getting wet. Since my dogs are older and have been crate trained for years, this wasn't a concern or issue for myself. Also, because of that, I haven't looked into liners or plastic trays that could fit the area inside the crate table. If you could find something like that, that would fit the entire area, accidents wouldn't be too damaging. But it would need to fit snuggly, side to side-back to front, with no spaces.
:::Above is my own personal opinions on the product. I purchased, assembled and use the product. I did not receive this product/crate table for free and I did not receive it at a discounted rate in exchange for my honest review. I have shared my personal opinions, experience and ideas to help potential buyers decide whether or not the tables would work for their animal/situation. I hope my review has been helpful.
Easy to assemble (yes, it is)
Looks great in any room
Your dog will love it
Your dog won't be able to get out of it
Not super well made, but then it didn't cost a fortune either
It scratches a little easy. For this I would give it 4 1/2 stars (Just watch what you put on top of it)
Dogs who are already crate trained
Not good for:
Puppies... they will chew it up to their delight!
“Our solid wood Pet Crate End Table provides a cozy, private spot for your pet to sleep and relax. Strong lockable gate door allows for peace of mind when you're away from home. Rich finish/color options allow you to incorporate it with your other home furnishings.”
We have now had our crate for just over 90 days. Our 19 lb Miniature Schnauzer likes it well enough, but last week we learned the hard way that the crate is not “Solid Wood.”
One morning we came down to our family room and noticed a small “sinkhole” in one corner. It had not been there the night before; it was something that just happened the way sinkholes do. If you look at the attached photo, you can see how the material on the top just sank in with the hole.
I contacted the company, CasualHome, to ask if they would send me a new top. Here is their answer:
“We can only replace the top if it was purchased from CasualHome.com and delivered within the last 30 days.”
That is a grossly inadequate response from any company considering the clear defect was there from the beginning.
I would exhort you to shop around more and then question the company about how they handle defects. CasualHome doesn’t care. Once they have your money. they only care about customer satisfaction for 30 days. That’s not long enough.
They love to chew-EVERYTHING, and sure enough started to chew the wooden bars and bar supports in their crates. We use these as end tables for our couch so we were determined to outsmart the pups and I feel like we did!!!
Basically, a little DYI solved our problems.
I am so happy with the outcome I had to share!
First I mixed metallic brown and black paint to get a shine/close color match to the crate’s finish and used a rounded foam brush to dab the paint on the areas where the wood was exposed and chewed.
Next, my husband bought 2 11x14 inch sheets of plexiglass from Home Depot, along with 2 longer sheets for the sides and a plexiglass skewer-which is a hand tool he used to cut the larger sheets into thinner pieces for the sides of the crates.
Then he drilled holes through the corners of the plexiglass and used small 1/4 in. screws to attach the pieces to the front and sides of the crates.
For the sides he used screws to attach the plastic to the bars as well for extra security and to ensure the boys did not rip the glass off with their paws!
We covered the front rails and openings entirely with the plexiglass but left a few inches for air ventilation on the sides (small enough for them to be unable to get the nose and teeth through to chew!)
The back we left open to make sure there was adequate air flow. They had not damaged the back before and (knock on wood) so far so good with no further damage!
Now we make sure they have a non rawhide bones or Kong type toys in the crates with them so they can channel their chewing urges appropriately!
And asabonus, the plexiglass has even cut down on barking noise!
It’s a small extra cost and DIY step to ensure the product stays gorgeous and the pups stay safe and splinter free!
We love our updated units and included some pics!! 😊
That said, it’s ACTUAL WOOD and does not look or feel cheap, to me. (If you’re looking for something even more “classy” you’re gonna hafta spend over $100.) It’s light enough for me to pick up and move, though it looks and feels like a solid piece.
I did not experience an overly strong varnish smell, nothing a ceiling fan and cracked window won’t get rid of - the sticker inside the crate says it was manufactured just a few months ago, so of course it’s gonna have a little bit of a fresh varnish smell.
I have no doubt this will last us years and years, as my dog gets in her crate voluntarily and only freaks when she hears us coming home - worse case scenario she scratches the inside of the door a bit.
BEST PART was that this was SUPER EASY to assemble. Nobody enjoys assembling things (okay maybe some people do) but this took me 30 minutes to get outta the box (very secure and well-done packaging) and put together using only a Phillips screwdriver. The instructions are broken down into FOUR easy steps.
I’m SO happy with this piece.
