At any rate, I liked the authors style and sense of humour, and the insight into feline behavior and behavior modification is very impressive. Much easier and more fun to read than other more clinical health guides and such. There is also many, many photos that are very entertaining and instructive. I would recommend this book to anyone who has a cat, female OR male.
This book was more than worth ten bucks. It covers a variety of issues, ranging from destructive scratching to litterbox avoidance to aggression to helping your pets get along with each other. The author explains the reason(s) for the problems and helps you figure out what specifically is causing your cat's issues. She then explains how you might address that specific cause.
After buying this book, I found myself in need of a solution for my cat's sudden new biting habit. I consulted this book and was able to determine that her problem was overstimulation, and I followed the author's advice. It worked wonderfully.
"The Cat Owner's Problem Solver" is not a quick-fix book. Rather, it will help you learn how to understand your cat and permanently solve the problems that are getting in the way of your owner/pet relationship. It's also a great read if you simply want to understand cats better or are curious about pet psychology. It's not a deep or difficult read; it's short, to-the-point, and written at a reading level that's accessible to most cat owners from middle school through adulthood.
This book has been so useful to me in my work with cats and cat owners, not to mention dealing with my own kitty, that I'm considering buying a second copy for the lobby/sitting area at my Humane Society chapter's office.
Very good book.
