Sequel to Against the Grain
THIRDS: Book Six

Calvin Summers and Ethan Hobbs have been best friends since childhood, but somewhere along the line, their friendship evolved into something more. With the Therian Youth Center bombing, Calvin realizes just how short life can be and no longer keeps his feelings for his best friend a secret. Unfortunately, change is difficult for Ethan; most days he does well to deal with his selective mutism and social anxiety. Calvin’s confession adds a new struggle for Ethan, one he fears might cost him the friendship that’s been his whole world for as long as he can remember.

As partners and Defense Agents at the THIRDS, being on Destructive Delta is tough at the best of times, but between call-outs and life-threatening situations, Calvin and Ethan not only face traversing the challenges of their job, but also working toward a future as more than friends.

Charlie Cochet has done it again. Catch A Tiger By The Tail is an entertaining mix of action, tender romance and humour.

Ethan grabs you by the heart and refuses to let go. He is by times a fierce warrior and a wounded soul. Dealing with his Selective Mutism has left him wary and fearful of trusting. This makes his bond with Calvin all the more precious. With Cal, he does not need to prove anything. He can be himself and relax. But he believes that his issues would hold Cal back.

Cal is wound more tightly than I expected him to be. It was a fascinating surprise. As the team sniper, he has more pressure on him than the others and he feels that he needs to shoulder that pressure on his own. His decision to shield Ethan from his worries and doubts wars with his need to be closer to Ethan and move into a more romantic relationship.

The sub plot that did not fail to make me smile is Ethan’s friendship with Dex (warning: I am a Dex fanatic). I love that he is comfortable enough with Dex to not only speak to him, but to tease him.

I loved the sweet moments we are treated to with Dex and Sloane and Ash and Cael. They are like little presents. Future books are set up as well. Teases for Austen and Zack. Major developments with Seb and Hudson. Every fan base gets a nod.

Mixed with the romance is an undercurrent of unease for what is to come. The team is training very hard and being pushed very hard by Sparks. Sparks. I still have concerns there… But you get the feeling like something bad is coming down the line and I wondered where it was going to strike first.

The writing is engaging and fluid. The dialogue is classic Thirds. This is a strong addition to the series that moves storylines along on several fronts, and desperately (desperately!) leaves you wanting more.

I was given an ARC for an honest review

I am so happy i was able ti win and ARC i was most excited for this book because calvin and hobbs are awesome

Anyways this book as usual was a solid 5! but beware major cliffy!!!!!

I loved this book but i found some scenes were missing which made me a bit sad i do not know if they were left out on purpose for thirds thursdays or maybe there was a timeline issue? like certain scenes with calvins & hobbs family gathering (people who read will understand) I would have also liked to see a bit more of calvin & hobbs home life they are so sweet together.

i am honestly so excited for the next book it makes my heart hurt it is so far away but i am sure it would be worth it!
Thank Charlie!

Destructive Delta team members human Calvin Summers and tiger Therian Ethan Hobbs have been best friends since childhood. Calvin is ready to move their friendship into an intimate relationship, but Ethan’s emotional issues prevent him from expressing his true feelings to Calvin.

Catch a Tiger by the Tail is the sequel to Against the Grain and the sixth book in the THIRDS series.

In an effort to cure a deadly virus, scientist developed a vaccine that altered human DNA, as well as created a shifter species known as Therians. THIRDS stands for Therian-Human Intelligence, Recon, Defense Squadron. On the surface, this agency was established by the government for equal rights law enforcement for all species. However, there is an underling system of highly classified corruption going on. Fanatical scientists continue to develop new drugs with hopes of using the THIRDS as test subjects.

Featured Characters
Although Calvin is a man of small stature, he has taken on the role of protector, especially when it comes to Ethan. The only childhood brawls Calvin was involved in was defending Ethan.

Ethan suffers from selective mutism and social anxiety, Ethan can only talk when he feels composed enough to speak. Calvin is Ethan’s sanctuary, they work together; live together even sleep together in a non-sexual way.

Intense Action Events
Capturing drug dealers, deactivating bombs, mob of protestors, drive by shooting and team member Dex is kidnapped.

I deliberately left out the plot details, but rest assured Catch a Tiger by the Tail is thrilling with heart stopping action, humorous, compassionate and exceedingly enjoyable.

HASH(0x9edc8fa8) out of 5 stars It was... okay. April 12 2016

I'll be honest-- books 5 and 6 have nearly turned me off the series. Book 5 was 90% (I estimate) a rehash of plot points and events we already saw in previous works, and beyond being able to say Ash and Cael had had their own book, I didn't feel like I got anything in it that I didn't really know about them or their world before. I don't really think book 5 had a solid driver that required its addition to the series; it was clunky. I could have skipped it and never missed it when I started book 6. I've reread 1-4 several times, but 5 I barely finished. It felt like pure filler to me.

This book, though, at least built out the world and developed two characters who were somewhat more peripheral in the original four book arc, though I think it mostly exists to kick off the new Sloan and Dex arc for 7. As much as I like these guys, we'd focused on them a lot in the original series, and I'm not sure any of these four (Ash, Cael, Hobbs or Calvin) had enough outstanding drama or development to entail a whole new book. This might have all been stronger as subplots woven in to the new Dex and Sloan books in the style of the first four rather than as standalones.

I'd recommend book 6 as a lead-in to the new books I hope will be back to more of the tone and pacing of the earlier books only.

HASH(0x9edce6e4) out of 5 stars This is my favourite from this spectacular series so far. Feb. 5 2016

This installment is one many THIRDS fans have been wanting to get their hands on, and I can’t imagine that they will be disappointed with Calvin and Hobbs’ story. The majority of the focus of this book really was on the relationships, with less action than in some of the prior stories, but I didn’t mind it one bit.

Calvin Summers and Ethan Hobbs have been best friends most of their lives, but over the past year the line between friends and “more than” has been blurring. Making the leap into a romantic relationship has not been going smoothly. There have been a few tentative steps in that direction, with Calvin making his feelings clear, but Hobbs has always pulled away in that regard.

With Ethan’s severe anxiety and selective mutism, the fiercely protective Calvin has often been his voice in the previous books, but now, finally we get to hear what Ethan is thinking. Just because he can’t always express his thoughts, doesn’t make Ethan any less of a growly, possessive Alpha than the rest of the Therians on the team and I think you’ll agree when you read it that a turned on, jealous, possessive Ethan Hobbs has plenty to say and it’s sexy as hell!

Are there kinks in the developing relationship? Hell yeah there are and let’s just say that not all of them are unwelcome or unexpected. In addition to the physical chemistry between the two, there are all sorts of feels going on here. Ethan has a difficult time with his family, including a sick father and a brother that just won’t give him a break. As much as Rafe gives Ethan a hard time though, his other brother Seb gives Ethan just the same back in unconditional love and support. Ethan also suffers from nightmares about his recent capture and depression relating to his disability.

It’s not just Ethan who has a hard time though. We get a perspective on what Calvin goes through psychologically as the team’s sniper. The latest situation where Calvin was forced to pull the trigger weighs on him not just psychologically, but also results in a dangerous backlash from the family of the man he is forced to shoot. As much as Calvin always has Ethan’s back, the reverse is also true. These two are so good together that it is clear from the start that regardless of what happens in the romance department, Calvin and Hobbs will be there for each other through thick and thin.

There is plenty of time spent with all the other couples and the team as a whole. There may not be as much action as in some of the other installments, but we do see the team working and training together in both their human and therian forms. Dex, Sloane, Ash and Cael are all well represented and while Charlie Cochet really concentrates on the relationship between Calvin and Ethan, the two other Hobbs brothers also get some time in this story. There are laughs, a few tears, some surprises and a lot of turning points. You’ll come away feeling for the entire Hobbs clan and you may even come to like the grouchy Rafe.

The main case the team is working on is wrapped up here, and while the ongoing storyline involving their secret TINS training, and Schultzon’s drug testing took a back seat for most of the story it is not forgotten. This felt like a transitional book as far as those continuing storylines go. The team is still questioning Sparks’ motivations and her endgame is uncertain, but that all comes back into focus in the end. I hate to say it, but one thing fans may not be happy about at the end? The cliffhanger!

This was my favorite book in what has been a spectacular series so far. I think most THIRDS fans are going to get what they were looking for from this book and will be counting the days until the next release date.

This was FANTASTIC!!!

I was feeling so much pressure to write this review because well... I got it as an ARC and I should probably be saying smart, organized and proper things but that's so not what I do.

On my book reviews I like to tell my experience while reading them. I like to talk about everything at random and exactly how it made me feel. I fangirl. A lot.

And that's exactly what I'm going to do, ARC or no ARC.

I think this was my 1st ARC from a series that it means everything to me and I have to say... Being able to read it almost a month before the release date was AMAZING! But not being able to say a word about it to anymore or rant on twitter while I was reading, which I normally do a lot, it was so difficult!

This book was so good I kept wanting to talk about it.

The way Charlie writes these characters is so genuine and funny that every little moments and lines leave me laughing without being able to stop.

Seb and Hudson broke my heart. I love Seb a lot more than I do Hudson and it was KILLING ME seeing my baby suffering so much. I love Hudson, too, of course! What he did to protect Seb... Their story is so heartbreaking. I need their book. I need them to be together again. I can longer seeing them suffer so much. Seb calling Hudson, Lobito... The despair in his voice... My poor Seb. My poor Hudson.

I have problem with Rafe and Nina. Rafe has always been an mean guy and I'll be completely honest. I couldn't stand him and I really disliked him but I knew he had reasons and that Charlie would make me eventually seeing him with other eyes. I feel for him, what's happening to him is terrible and I'm so very sad but no matter what he was indeed mean and a hypocrite to his brothers, to Calvin and Sloane.

I'm happy Rafe has someone and that he is in love but I'm also not a big fan of Nina... Maybe because I don't really know her yet? She and Hudson are part of Destructive Delta but they appear so little... the only thing I know is that she hurt Hudson badly and it made me mad when she started yelling at Dex and calling him judgmental. The fact that she's so supportive to Rafe proves she's a great woman but it will take more than this for me to warm up to her..

Ash and Cael are adorable as usual. Ash calling Cael "Sweetheart" turn my knees into jelly every time.

I'm so glad we go to see so much of the team together and the guys in their Therian form. I love seeing them in their Therian forms. They're just to cute, adorable and funny big kittens. I love it!

Also when the team is all together hilarious things happen by the second.

It was lovely to see Rosa's girlfriend.. And Bradley.. Lou is not one of my favorite by a long shot but Bradley... Sweet thing, I really want their book too.

I couldn't be more happy with Ethan and Cal's story. I'm so happy for them. Their friendship is priceless.

It was bound to happen, really.. And I could sense the cliffhanger miles way but whyyy!!

Things are heating up and I'm hyped! We'll start seeing the team going to a whole different level of crazy. It's going to be epic I can't wait.

What will she think of next and when will the next book in the series be released....

This book was not as action packed as the rest of the books but that does not mean that it was not as good as the rest in the series.

This book is primarily based around Ethan and Calvin. Their relationship has been based off of being best friends but along the way they have both fallen in love with one another. Ethan has disorders that has always affected him but when it comes to Calvin he finds a way to not that hinder their relationship.

Ethan is truly an exceptionally strong person because he fights to overcome all of the obstacles in his life such as his mutism. He could let that dictate how he lives and not strive to achieve what he wants out of his life but he does the opposite and fights for love and his family instead. He is someone that everyone should look up too.

Calvin has always had Ethan's back and he know that Ethan is a strong person because most people would give up and not do what they have to in order to overcome disabilities. He is the voice for Ethan when he cannot have one for himself. Calvin is truely a hero in my eyes

Much like the rest in the series, this book ends in a cliff hanger and I personally can not wait till the next book comes out.

This book is honestly inspirational in my opinion and if u do not read it then u are missing out on something wonderful.
