The optics are multi-coated to obtain high resolution and high contrast views. The prism are made of BaK-4 glass to give you enhanced color fidelity. The rubber covered Outland X allows for rough and tough handling and the binoculars are waterproof and fog proof and are nitrogen purged for using in all weather environments. Large focus knobs make for easy and precise focusing and twist-up eyecups allow for quick adjustment of eye relief to obtain the full field of view. Comfortable traps are pre-attached to the binoculars to make them ready to use. The objective lens covers are semi-attached so they don't get lost on the 42mm sizes. lightweight inexpensive binoculars

I just got these for bird watching and they are light and comfortable. The amount of light they let in is probably going to be fine in the summer; unfortunately when there is poor light outdoors, like now in winter, its a bit hard to get details, but that's what I expected from the size and price range, so that's ok. My Canon 8x35 just got stolen, so I've bought these to act as a stopgap, and as a travelling set.

The neck strap is very poor quality - I've used my own clips just to keep the shoelace-like straps from coming undone on their own. The case is just a bit small, but its fine. All in all, they are fine for the price.

I bought them for my 9 year old, as we like to bird watch as a family on the weekend. I adjusted them for him and was quite pleased by the crisp image. There is no rainshield or Lens caps as the instructions stated but I do notice it doesn’t include either in the product description on Amazon so no star deducted. We are taking them out this weekend to the conservation area so I will update my review if I notice anything major. Otherwise I think they’re great for the price. I also ordered the Nikon Trailblazers for myself as I was after compacts. They were $55 more than these. If I don’t notice a difference between twice as amazing I would be satisfied returning the Nikon’s and buying another set of these. I will update my review when the Nikon’s come this week.
The only negative I’ve found is it was difficult to adjust the centre wheel without accidentally adjusting the pupillary distance. It was also challenging to adjust the right lens without unscrewing the lens cup. It would be impossible for my 9 year old to do so I imagine I will be doing the bulk of the focusing for a while.

Binoculars are little larger to hold. While you can see things clearly, they are not super clear. Due to long/ big size it is difficult to hold them steadily which deteriorates viewing experience.

I had been impressed by all the 5 star reviews and ordered a pair of these for bird-watching, fell-walking etc. The good points are, relatively light weight, nice build quality, excellent clarity. So why 4 stars not 5? Because I did a side-by-side comparison with a pair of German made Minox 10 x 42s. At 4 times the price, clearly they are better in terms of construction, though heavier and slightly more compact. The most noticeable difference is in light transmission, on a dull day the Minox are noticeably brighter, also the focus wheel is only one turn end to end and seems to snap into focus much more easily than the two turn Celestron focus wheel. The differences are not massive but enough to lose the Celestron's their 5th star. Having said that, these are excellent binos at a budget price and the 75% saving compared to the Minox probably only loses you 15% in quality and in bright conditions these are very very good with clarity only marginally less than the Minox. You pays your money and takes your choice, and for me having a budget pair for scrambling up fells etc where they could get lost or damaged was a good choice, rarely will you be bothered by the trade-offs I have described. A good buy as long as you bear in mind the slight shortcomings compared to a premium product.

Light weight, perfect size for carrying with very good magnification and image quality. Good in low light conditions and nice feel to them, easy to use given I am a novice and easy to use with or without glasses! Would reccomend for any trip for looking at wildlife, be it safari animals, penguins on a beach or birds &seals off the coast!

At 64 years of age I have used quite a few Binoculars in my time so I have put off this review for a few months, they are nice and look well made for the price but I am still unsure about the brightness.

They seem to me to be quite dull compared to what I have used in the past and at 10-42 they should not be to different to 10-50 but they look it, I would not buy them again and should have stuck to a 10-50 even though the reviews I have read about them praise them highly, it could be down to the prisms used but I am no expert and you will have to make up your own minds.

....they are outclassing a couple of other familiar brands including (10x42 ones ) I got earlier this month. Definitely these ones are to keep. For few quid you get so much joy for your eyes. If you still hesitate please do not. They are really that good, to handle and look through. Top notch budget binoculars.
Just wondering what 300 pounds binoculars must feel like in your hand, what can you see through them if 30 pounds ones by Celestron give me so much pleasure ? I will never find out but I am really happy with these ones.

If you buy a pair of binoculars for £10 or £20 the quality's always going to be hit and miss. At the price point of these Celestron Outlands (between about £35 and £55 depending on when you buy them) you're not going to be getting state-of-the-art kit, but you rightly expect the basics to be right - decent build, smooth adjustment, reasonably sharp and bright image. To be fair, the build is a positive - they're solidly built and feel good in the hands - but when you put them to your eyes they disappoint. Actually adjusting the inter pupillary distance is a problem because the centre hinge is so stiff, and I was unable to ease it off. The diopter ring is stiff too but this is set-and-forget so matters less. As for the image - reasonably sharp and bright in the centre but washed out and milky towards the lower edge. Normally I'd think I'd just struck unlucky, but on this occasion I bought 2 (as presents) and both suffered exactly the same issues. So, both returned - very disappointing.
