Alex is just the kind of feisty skilled heroine we like to think knocked guys out of the park back in the day. She may walk, talk and behave like a slave but she is anything but. She's the kind of role model we want to see and read about. She's smart, thinks on her feet, weighs her options and is just a real take-charge young woman. She's a perfect foil for Young Adult readers who love adventure with a strong dose of intrigue, romance and all-out fun. Can't wait to read the next installment: Warrior. Bring it on!
This is a good read, from a new author. The storyline is tight, and takes the reader on a magical journey through time back to the turn of the Roman empire. Alex came from our time, and ends up in the very far past. Saved by a legionnaire named Illixus, Alex is taken on a romantic adventure that will continue into the rest of the trilogy, with action and adventure with each turn of the page.
It's a really good book! The characters are memorable - not like some books where you can't remember who they are - and the story is good. I enjoyed this read!
