LOTS of reasons to buy this:
"Feel Good Time" IS the summer radio hit of the year, and worthy of it. Pink remains undefined, yet contagious for some reason, and this tune seems to cement the diversity between rock/dance/pop - an absolutely perfect summertime rocker. Gives this reviewer the feel of early Jackson 5.
"Saturday Night's Alright" is a phenomenal update to the 1973 classic biker rocker - and somehow, I think Nickleback can pull off leather chaps betterthan Elton John. Kicks...period. Sounds better than other current re-makes.
You get a HUGE bonus in the Bowie re-do of "Rebel Rebel" - NOT just a remix, as others have stated, but a total vocal/instrumental do-over. Starts slow, but rocks like hell. The compilation is worth the purchase for this alone. Skilled, calculated, but very cool. This is NOT available anywhere else, and Bowie fans should pick up on this.
The rest is pablum from the "80's" format - OK, if you want Loverboy and Journey to complete a void...
track 1 5/5 very catchy, and a great new song.
track 2 4/5 good Elton John song remake. It' so good.
track 3 4/5 David Bowie has done it. This song is very catchy
track 4 5/5 I love this song.
track 5 5/5 This song is a catchy rock song. Very good.
track 6 5/5 This is my favorite song on the CD. It's a fun, don't worry type of song.
track 7 3/5 Gets stuck in your head, but it's not a great thing.
track 8 5/5 Great song.
track 9 4/5 It's a good song.
track 10 1/5 I can't stand this song. It's so annoying!
track 11 4/5 Good song.
track 12 5/5 Great fun, catchy song.
track 13 5/5 Great song. Fun to dance to.
track 14 5/5 Very good. It's a slow song that turns into a party.
In conclusion, buy this CD it's awsome
Once again, the new songs and the older songs flow very well together. The best new song on the soundtrack may be "Danger! High Voltage!" by Electric Six,which should have been one of last year's biggest hits. Pink's "Feel Good Time" is also very good and was a good choice as the movie's lead single.
Of the older tunes, I love Loverboy's "Workin' For the Weekend" simply because I can't help but think of when Chris Farley stripped to it on Saturday Night Live.
Once again, the unique song selection makes this a terrific soundtrack. Even if you weren't a fan of the movie, you may end up liking this soundtrack. It has a little something for everyone, and I recommend checking it out.
