What if you found him, the one who was put on this earth for you? He was your perfect partner, your soul mate. Your life with him was more than you could have ever hoped for. The two of you created an amazing family full of so much love.
I did. And it was everything.
Then, one day, I woke up, and he was gone. They were all gone.
I can’t accept it. I’m stuck in a reality that isn’t mine, aching for the life I lost, one that made up the very fabric of my soul.
How do I find my future when my past won’t stop pulling me under? I’m drowning, struggling to breathe in this existence where nothing makes sense. It might be crazy, and I might be as well.
But if you’d experienced the joy of a once-in-a-lifetime love, you’d be chasing memories, too.

This is my first Ellie Wade book and after reading the blurb I was really excited to jump into this story. It's the kind of blurb that immediately grabs my attention. And while I loved the IDEA of the story, I felt there were issues in its execution.

Mia is set to marry her high-school sweetheart Grayson but the day before her wedding, tragedy strikes. She is in a car accident and spends months in a coma recovering from her injuries. When she wakes up her fiance is there, but everything feels wrong to her. She has memories of a different life. Memories with a man named Aiden, whom she is in love with. She is confused, scared and heart-broken. Mia's loved ones desperately want the girl they have always known to come back to them, but there's one problem...she doesn't feel like that girl anymore. She doesn't want the same things. She wants the perfect life she remembers with the mysterious Aiden. Is she crazy? Is Aiden real? Are her memories real?

I enjoyed Ellie's writing style. Her writing is what gives me hope that I will like her other books. I also really liked Aiden's character. He was sweet and it was obvious how much he loved Mia. He had the potential to be really great if we had seen more of him. I had trouble connecting to him because the author didn't flesh out his character enough.

I read a lot of romantic suspense so, I tend to be very picky with any book that has elements of suspense. This book felt really rushed to me. It jumps back and forth between her “memories” and the present day. It was hard to connect to the story because every time I felt like I was becoming invested in it, the chapter would end and we would be thrown into another time and place. I've read books where the time jumps work for me, but unfortunately in this book, it didn't.

This was my first time reading anything by Ellie Wade and I must say that I thoroughly enjoyed this great story. Ellie Wade has given us the most emotional story that I have read so far this year, the story will have you crying well you sit on the edge of your seat in suspense of whats going to happen next. The story line for this book was unlike anything that I've read before . The story starts off with Mia on her way to her rehearsal dinner who is in an accident unfortunately with a semi, and she ends up in a coma -for a long time. But when she a wakes she remembers a lot of things ,but she also remembers some other things as well. Soon people think she could be crazy ,and other thinks she just needs therapy.Mia feels detached from her life in every sense, In her mind she had another family but her family just thinks it all a dream, but not her she's not so such because it seems real to her. Is it just a figment of her imagination while in a coma or could it be something else totally different. This story is written all in Mia's point of view which makes this really strike home with her emotional turmoil that she goes through. I could go on and tell you more about this poor Mia but that would spoil it for you. I highly recommend that you read this great story ,because you won't be disappointed.

Reviewed by Donna Elsegood on behalf of Kindle Friends Forever

I always look forward to reading Ellie Wades books as they are full of angst and ultimately love and romance; however, this was something completely different to what I have ever read before.

Mia Chapman is due to marry her childhood sweetheart Grayson Strong. The day before, she experiences a tragedy which has life changing consequences. What her mind believes and what appears to be reality just doesn’t add up.

Quote ~ Mia “My husband, Mom!” “Is he coming? Why isn’t he here? He should be here!”

Mia can't fathom out why she has overwhelming feelings for a man called Aiden. He consumes and confuses her thoughts, but why is he in her head? What is happening to her? Struggling to connect to Grayson, I could feel her frustration, her fears. If my heart went out to her, it despaired for Grayson. What a fantastic character and although there were times I truly felt sorry for him, a part of me couldn’t help wondering if there was more to him. I really thought he'd be able to overcome such a complex situation unscathed; however, little did I realise what the author had in store for me.

I loved how this story skipped from what was her current life and the life she believed she shared with Aiden, the man who she thinks is her soul mate. The emotion I felt for Mia shows how Ellie can write something with so much feeling had me sympathising with the leading lady's dilemma. Actually, I would go so far as saying that I envisaged myself in the same room as Mia wanting to help her uncover the truth. I couldn’t put this story down for a second as I was desperate to know where it would lead me. I asked myself, “Aiden, who are you?” Him constantly being in Mia's mind only seemed to add to my distress.

5.0 out of 5 stars Such an amazing and unique story! Dec 7 2015
By JBenoit - Published on

‘I simply can’t accept that I was shown an amazing life, only to wake up and be told that the paradise I’d just lived could never be real. That concept doesn’t register. I can’t believe it. I won’t.’

What an amazing and unique story line! I’ve never read anything like it, it was such an awesome twist on the whole amnesia/memory loss topic. But it was also so much more than that, it was also very much about soul mates and fate and the possibility of some greater power out there guiding our hearts to find its other half. I actually still get chills thinking back on how this story all played out, it was so unexpected and emotional, I couldn’t read fast enough to find out what happens next! It’s going to be hard to review this book because I don’t want to give anything at all away, this is one that you are going to want to experience for yourself, trust me!

“To me, this life feels like a dream. It’s familiar but shallow. The colors here aren’t vibrant, the emotions are dull, and the love is missing. It’s a fond dream, containing some pleasant memories and people I love, but I’m dying to wake up.”

So let me try to summarize what the story is about. Mia is living her version of a perfect life and she’s set to marry the love of her life but the day before the wedding she is in a terrible accident and ends up in a coma for the next six months. When she finally wakes up, her mother and her fiancé are by her side. While she recognizes them she doesn’t remember much about the life they are saying was hers, instead she has these intense memories and feelings towards this alternate life she insists is really hers. She is hurt and confused by her family’s reaction to her claims, thinking she is going crazy or suffering some after effects from her accident, and she is desperate to find the family that she thinks she’s lost. Essentially alone in her quest, she has to try to reconcile the memories she has of the life everyone else believes to be true (the one which she can associate no emotions to) with the life that only she remembers with the emotions so intense that it practically cripples her. I’m purposely not saying any names or what her memories were, because you need to experience it yourself, but I will say that this twist completely fascinated me. I didn’t know who or what to trust and I kept trying to come up with any theory in my head that would make sense to explain what happened. It was brilliant how it all comes together though, I spent much of the last few chapters clutching my chest with tears in my eyes!

‘He’s the same, but I’m not. I’m so different. Everything has changed, but I suppose, in reality, nothing has. I can’t make sense of any of it.’

This book was told entirely from Mia’s POV, which I thought was great because as a reader we only knew as much as she did. We didn’t know any more about the validity of her memories than she did nor did we know any more about the life everyone was telling her she had. I loved this because it allowed me to put myself in Mia’s shoes and discover everything as she did, it kept me guessing as more and more was revealed. It also allowed me to feel everything she did, I felt her confusion over trying to reconcile her memories with the life everyone insisted she had and I felt her pain over the loss of the life she actually remembers. I didn’t know whether she was crazy or whether she really did experience all of those things. I just couldn’t come up with a logical explanation in my mind, but all I knew was that after experiencing the amazing things she remembered it made me so sad to think that there was the possibility it was all just a dream. I loved how the story flipped every other chapter between present day and reliving one of her memories, the way it flowed and how one tied into the other was perfect.

This book seriously blew my mind, and I loved every second of it. It’s not every day that you come across a book that completely overtakes your every thought until you’ve finished, and even then leaves you thinking back on what an incredible story it was! I didn’t want to put it down, and if it weren’t for requiring sleep and having to work I would have definitely read it straight through! Thank you, thank you to the author, Ellie Wade, for offering me an advance copy, I thoroughly loved it and I think you all will too!

And wow! This quote right here gives me chills every time I read it:

‘The things about fate is that it can paint the most magnificent picture with colors you didn’t even know existed, creating a truly brilliant masterpiece. We simply have to be still enough to let it happen.’

Chasing Memories by Ellie Wade
4 stars!!!

“I am so disconnected from this life, and I know it’s because I’m not meant to be living it.”

This is one of those extremely difficult to write reviews because everything is a spoiler, but one thing I will say is that this was extremely unique to me, I loved the premise of the story and it really left me thinking at the end. This was one of those books where I would have loved an alternate ending…maybe this is something that the author may consider, because if you believe in fate and kismet…would the end result always be the same?

“The thing about fate is that it can paint the most magnificent picture with colors you didn’t even know existed, creating a truly brilliant masterpiece. We simply have to be still enough to let it happen.”

This is no run of the mill memory loss story and the way Ellie Wade delivered it was totally captivating. I was emotionally invested in the story and the characters and while on the outside looking in it may have seemed unbelievable, Ellie Wade made me believe. As I said above, this was unique to me, I personally have not read anything like it and while at times the way it was delivered was a little confusing once you understood what was happening and read a little slower it all made perfect sense. We have two stories running side by side, which in itself sounds weird, but it all ties up together, the main character is present throughout both stories and at the end Ellie Wade delivers the bigger picture.

“To me, this life feels like a dream. It’s familiar but shallow. The colors here aren’t vibrant, the emotions are dull, and the love is missing. It is a fond dream, containing some pleasant memories and people I love, but I’m dying to wake up. I’m fading…”

It was the eve of Mia’s wedding and she is involved in a car accident, she is in a coma for six months and when she wakes up nothing is how she remembered. While she can physically remember her family, she has no emotional attachment to them at all. Mia feels detached from her life in every sense of the word, nothing seems or feels right, Mia doesn’t feel as if she belongs anymore, nothing seems familiar despite the words of her family and the production of photo albums. While in her coma all Mia could think about was this “other” family she had. Her family were adamant it was all a dream but Mia was not so sure, it all seemed so real. Was this all a figment of her imagination while in a coma or was it something else entirely?

“When you wake up and realize that you’ve ruined your life over a dream, come find me. But I can’t promise I’ll still want you.”

This book was entirely written in Mia’s point of view and this really drummed home the confusion and the emotional turmoil that she was going through. Her upset at being told it was her mind playing tricks and the fact that no-one believed her. I empathised with Mia, her disappointment and her resentment towards those around her, their lack of faith and belief in her and also their nonchalance and disregard to everything that she was going through. Even though this was written in Mia’s point of view I also related to her fiancé, I actually felt for him…badly, I felt his pain and rejection, it hurt. He had the patience of a saint and despite what happened I always felt the love he had for Mia.

I cannot really say any more, I know this is vague but I really feel you need to read this for yourself the way the author intended. For me personally, the ending was a little rushed, I also felt that one part of the story would never have happened judging by what we knew about the characters and I would have liked Mia and her fiancé’s relationship expanded upon post coma, hence only a four star, but none the less, this did not detract from my enjoyment of the story. Overall this was a book I could not put down, I desperately wanted to know what happened at the end and while I got my answers I would have liked a little more.

“When the tale of my life finishes, when the book closes, I will be able to say that I truly loved with all my heart and cherished every second I had. To me, that is the definition of living.”

3.0 out of 5 stars Wanted More Dec 8 2015

I was very excited when I received an ARC for this book. I loved the synopsis and thought it would be a different read than most of the books I've been reading. What I loved about it was the beginning. It captured me from the start and I was wanting more with every page. I also fell in love with the characters. Mia was a very strong independent woman who knew what she wanted. She had strong faith and believed in her love with Aiden even though everyone told her she was crazy and making things up. What I didn't like about the book was the ending. I felt like a lot was missing. I love a happy ending don't get me wrong, but it felt like every chapter was building up to something. Once it ended I thought to my self was that it? There was nothing spectacular or traumatic to make it a WOW book. Overall it was an enjoyable read. This was reviewed for HeadTripping Books by Leandra in exchange for an honest review.

What would you do if you woke up from a six month coma and had lived six years of your life with a husband, a family, a life that just disappeared? You remember every detail of your life with your soulmate but you cannot find him.
That's what happens to Mia and this is her highly emotional journey to find her way back to the family she experienced while in the coma.
It's a trying journey but filled with emotion, strength, hope and faith.
I don't know what to write to do this book justice, it's amazing from beginning to end. Believing in something when everyone else thinks you've lost your mind, having the faith to never stop searching. It's truly one of the best books I've read this year and while it's my first from Ellie Wade I look forward to delving into her backlist asap.

5.0 out of 5 stars I'm in love with Ellie Wade's books Dec 10 2015

I'm in love with Ellie Wade's books. Like absolutely in love with them.

That being said, this was so different (made sure the author knew first hand that I was in love with this book.) I am not going to go into details on how different this book is. I had never seen something done like this before. But to be honest, it was beautiful. The life. The lies. Everything that she found out once he memory was basically gone. How she finds her one true love. And figuring out her life. It was an amazingly beautiful love story.

I do not think you will see anything like this. Ever. Ellie is so good with words and I was blown away by them. Thank you Ellie again for another, beautiful love story that is nothing like the rest.
