Product Description

They all think they can sleep their way to the top - blondes, brunettes and redheads. That is, until they meet me. My name is DeVon Ricci and I’m an asshole. At least they all seem to think so. But I don’t give a shit because they never last long. Two or three weeks tops, then they're gone. Not that it matters. There’s always another talent waiting to take a seat on the casting couch, but I've yet to find what I'm looking for. I know what I want and I won't settle for less. I'm always chasing perfection.

The embodiment of the American dream, DeVon Ricci had come to America from Italy when he was a teenager and then, with hard work and perseverance, had worked his way up in a cutthroat industry to emerge as the head of one of the top talent agencies in Los Angeles. Now it looks like he has everything he could ever want, except for the perfect woman.

Don't miss a minute of summer's hottest new erotic romance series, Chasing Perfection.

Due to adult situations this book is for 18 and older only.

DeVon Ricci. Even just his name radiates sexuality and authority. He is a powerful man in Hollywood, the head of his own Talent Agency – Mirage. Immigrating to the USA from Italy at a young age, he has worked tirelessly to make a name for himself, to make his business a thriving success. And when you’ve become a force such as he has, you should be able to take what you want, when you want it right? Well that’s how he sees things, and he definitely sees something he wants in Krissy Jensen.

Krissy Jensen is an up and coming lawyer in New York City – when she is offered a once in a lifetime job opportunity in LA, she is thrilled. I mean come on, who wouldn’t want to move to Hollywood?? The people watching alone would make it worthwhile ;) Travelling to a new city is challenging in the best of situations, throw in an interview at a high profile company and Krissy’s nerves are on edge as she enters a new world. Krissy’s character is fantastic, she is a no nonsense woman – beautiful, strong, tough and intelligent. I thought her choice to move across the country to experience something new was a brave one, and M.S. Parker does a fantastic job of setting the stage for the rest of the books in this series.

DeVon and Krissy’s encounters are fascinating, I really enjoyed reading about these two! Krissy is put to the test during the interview process, the most unorthodox questions and situations are thrust upon her. DeVon is not a man that trusts easily and he definitely puts Krissy through her paces. Not a lot of women would have lasted through his ridiculous antics, however she has the character traits that make her a challenge to him – something he hasn’t experienced.

Their chemistry is undeniable, the pull they feel is magnetic and intoxicating.

HASH(0xa0aa0bd0) out of 5 stars Watch out Hollywood Krissy has arrived!!! July 13 2014
By Kim Nikolasevic - Published on
Format: Kindle Edition
After seeing her best friend Carrie get the man of her dreams and the job she always wanted, Krissy has decided that she wants to do more than just help people end their marriage. As she attends Carrie’s goodbye party, Krissy breaks the news to her best friend that not only is she looking for a new job but the job she has her eye on is on the other side of the country. Yeah it’s going to be hard but Krissy feels it’s time to step out on her own.

DeVon Ricci is “The Talent agent” everyone wants. He has no shortage of women falling at his feet to get to the lead in the best of Hollywood’s films and television industry. DeVon likes control in his life and in his women. He learned a long time ago not to get attached and keep relations with women purely sexual this way there is no misunderstanding. They must do what he wants and behave how he wants or he will replace them, plan and simple.

A position has come available at the DeVon’s Talent agency and Krissy has applied for it. After a series of interviews and runs in Krissy and DeVon have come to a love hate relationship. Little does Krissy know that DeVon has a different position in mind for her and how things will go from there is up to the two of them.

Having read the Club Prive Series before Chasing Perfection, I had already knew a bit about Krissy. This series we get to know more about the easy going, I’m in control of my life Krissy. I look forward to getting to know her on a more personal level and how she deals with working in a talent agency in Hollywood. She has definitely met her match and I can’t wait to see how she deals with him.

DeVon Ricci is a man who knows what he wants and how to get it without caring about who he hurts. He is a character I love and hate at the same time. His self-assured, I’m god attitude is like no other I have read but I guess that comes with being the top Talent agent in Hollywood.

This book hooked me within the first chapter as we met DeVon and got to see who he was. I know Krissy is no push over, I can’t wait to see how she handles DeVon and how he deals with the fact that Krissy is more than just another pretty face!! M. S. Parker has another hit series!! I can’t wait for the next book to come out.

HASH(0xa0aa0c24) out of 5 stars Totally and utterly torn.... Aug. 24 2014
By Miss Opinionated - Published on

I'm really torn on this book. I really had to sit there after I finished the book and just.....digest everything. On one hand, I THINK i enjoyed the book. It was a decent enough read, and I am somewhat intrigued enough to want to purchase the 2nd (more on that in my next review) BUT this book left a lot to be desired. Lets break it down shall we?

Caution **SPOILERS**

Ok so, the book begins with Krisee, who is interviewing for a job in one of the top agencies in LA within the legal department. She's determined to move to LA, with or without the job. What ensues, is a series of tests from the company director/CEO/owner or whatever he is, DeVon Ricci. These "tests" were so out there and so far fetched that I really had an issue continuing on with the book at this point. And we were only, what 20% of the way through at this point? I work in HR and recruitment and this interview process was APPALLING and HIGHLY INAPPROPRIATE. Do big hot shot companies really get away with sh*t like this? Billionaire or not, his line of questioning REALLY irked me, not only as a self respecting woman, but also as a PROFESSIONAL. What an insult to working woman everywhere (and I'm not even a feminist). I get that Krisee wanted to prove herself. And I get that she wanted to let DeVon know that she wasn't easily intimidated, but this was TOO much. After all of his series of "tests" I don't care what they pay was (sure, I would've been tempted) I would have told him to shove it so far up his a** that I could see it sticking out of his mouth while he screamed for mercy. What an absolute WANKER.

My second issue is that, we KNOW that Devon and Krisee will end up together at some point or another. They are our main female and male leads after all. But what ensues in this book, is an extremely SLOW pace of sexual attraction while they f*ck other people. Not what I want to read in a book. They don't even flirt with each other! Well.. not really. There is no stolen heated moments, no accidental touching, no NOTHING. Just inner thinkings of the attraction they have for one another. This all seems like such a contradiction because the pace of the book overall is good, BUT the unfolding and pace of their relationship SUCKS. I went into this book hoping to see their relationship unfold, instead.. it didn't even start! I'm assuming that you don't get any of this until the second book! So it feels like a major set up to have even read this book, because what do you get? A whole lotta nothing. It's actually like a sitcom/drama/series in a book, but with no relationship development from DeVon and Krisee. Let's just call it, Devon and Krisee like one another but screw other people instead.

I really just don't know how I feel right now. I want to read the second volume in this series but I'm worried that it's going to be a let down. Negatives aside... lets talk about the good things. As individuals, I enjoyed both Krisee and DeVon (<--- The fact that his name is spelt like this annoys me. Anyone else?). Krisee is a great female lead. She's head strong, independent, sassy and driven. DeVon, plays a great alpha male. He is definitely a character that has the whole brooding, rich, sexy leading male thing going on, and I loved it. Their character development as individuals was great, and the author did a great job of letting us get to know them and their personalities throughout each scene. Which I enjoyed.

Overall, like I said... I'm pretty confused as to how I feel about this book. Stink beginning aside (and the fact that you get know where with our leads relationship) the story was actually pretty decent. The author must have done something right if I am willing to read book 2. For now, I'm leaving 2 stars. If the 2nd book is any better, I may consider upping this to 3. Stay tuned.

HASH(0xa0aa0f00) out of 5 stars Chasing perfection was a great read. This book made me happy Sept. 28 2014

Chasing perfection was a great read. This book made me happy, sad, and mad! In this book, we get to know Krissy from the Club Prive books in greater detail. We follow Krissy to Hollywood as she starts her new job at a talent agency. When Krissy gets to LA, she meets Devon Ricci. Devon Ricci is Krissy's new boss who is a major hot alpha male. Devon makes you hate him, love him, and hate him again as he tests Krissy to see what kind of employee she will be. He vows to never fall in love with his many women but can't seem to get Krissy out of his head. The sexual tension between the two is so hot! This book ends with a cliffhanger that makes you want to get to the next book to see what Krissy and Devon will do next to each other! You won't be disappointed! Read this book!

DeVon, our male main, may be the most unappealing man I have ever run across in a romance novel. He's a sexual exploiter, a sexual harasser, a manipulator, a purely unpleasant person.

He runs a top talent agency in LA, which helps supply him with women to sleep with. Some of these women seem to understand the nature of their relationship (that is, they are receptacles for DeVon to ejaculate into) while others seem to think they are developing an actual relationship with him -- a notion that DeVon disabuses them of as soon as he is done ejaculating into them. DeVon likes to play rough. This wouldn't be a problem, but he makes it clear to his partners that if they ever use a safe word, he will permanently end the relationship. This makes it likely that they will endure behavior that they otherwise wouldn't. Ugh. He's a beast.

Krissy wanders into DeVon's private harem when she applies for a job with his agency. In the space of a few weeks, she is propositioned, subjected to intimate questions as a condition of her employment, gets her relationship deliberately destroyed, and is otherwise battered by DeVon's harassment and mind games.

I'm sure future installments will have DeVon grow as a person as he discovers what it means to truly love -- but this is not someone I'm interested in following on a journey of self-discovery. The story isn't that interesting. The writing isn't that great. I need some kind of incentive to want to follow a rat through a sewer.

HASH(0xa0aa0fe4) out of 5 stars 5 stars = I freaking LOVED this book!!! More Please!!! Sept. 20 2014

I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads.

Let me start at the end and say I literally laughed out loud when I read the ending of this book. While this is not my first serial, it is my first book by M.S. Parker and I have to say that so far I am impressed. Both DeVon and Krissy’s characters are so well written that they feel like real people. Krissy’s reaction to finding out about all of the “tests” DeVon subjected her to was perfect – she wasn’t over-the-top nor did she act like a drama queen.

Once Krissy actually accepted the job and began working at Mirage Talent, well that’s when things between her and DeVon really get interesting. There is a ton of sexual chemistry between the two, but as Krissy refuses to entertain the idea of sleeping with the boss and DeVon refuses to pursue her, that chemistry is turning into some serious sexual tension. I am soooooo looking forward to THAT scene when it occurs. Here’s to hoping that volume two is just as entertaining as Chasing Perfection: Vol. I was.
