Okay, maybe not for all, but generally the information is pretty much common sense. I suppose everything helps when we forget about the other options and also helpful to those who didn't think about those options in the first place. It is still a source of good information that travellers might want to take advantage of.

HASH(0x9ae1ec24) out of 5 stars Helpful and Informative July 17 2012

I fly several times a year, and actually worked for an airline for a while, so I thought I knew a lot about airfare and finding good-priced tickets. I wasn't surprised when I read things in this book that I already knew -- although I was happy to see that the book had them right. However, I was pleasantly surprised to find things that I didn't know. I learned a few tips that I think will save me some money in the near future.

One thing I found particularly interesting was the information about how to find the lowest fares on travel websites. I don't want to give away too many details, so I'll just say that for years, I've apparently been looking at the wrong sites. The links to good sites and information about what verbiage to look for will help me a lot.

If you're planning to fly soon, even if you don't travel often, you will save much more than the price of this book by using the tips you find inside.

HASH(0x9bd16978) out of 5 stars Helpful short guide to ease airline travel April 19 2012

I've travelled by air fairly extensively (and expensively) over the last 40+ years. I'm not a world traveler and don't log millions of miles but I have flown for business and pleasure MANY times. I wasn't too optimistic about "How to Buy Cheap Airline Tickets" being super helpful but thought I'd buy it and check it out (after reading some of other reviews).

It was worth the price I paid for it.

The information on increases in the amount that can be compensated for involuntary bumping - useful. And learning about new tarmac delay rule - you're able to request getting off of delayed plane now and go back to terminal - useful.

Nice, clear color illustrations throughout the 48 page pamphlet (nice if you have a Kindle Fire). There were a few editing and formatting issues but nothing too distracting.

Student discounts and senior discounts; info about - very useful.

And the list does on. There was a lot of stuff I already knew but there were all kinds of useful tidbits of information and handy links.

This was money well spent and I'll be using the info in the near future.

HASH(0x9abda534) out of 5 stars Very good guide! Feb. 13 2012

I've been planning to take a little getaway trip with my wife so I got this book to see if I can save some money on air travel although I was a little skeptical about the possibility. I was wrong! This is not so much of a book but an actual guide of what to do, how to do it and most importantly when to do it if you want save money or just get better seats and better service.

The book really gives some very helpful tips which there is no way to know even if you are in experienced traveler. Given how much money you can save just with one ticket, the book is really worth the money!

Wow, this book is absolutely wonderfully valuable. As I was reading it, I thought that all the information would be really common sense and things that I've already known. But I was blown away by some valuable secret methods to getting upgrades and cheaper tickets. I did not know about many of the resources mentioned to get great discounts so definitely will save me a ton next time I fly. The book even describes where people should sit depending on the type of flight and personality. Very informative book!

HASH(0x9b72a81c) out of 5 stars Even if you are making just one flight this year you need this book! Feb. 10 2012

I'm planning on taking the kids to Disneyworld in 2013, and from the UK that is not going to be a cheap vacation. When I saw this book I had to snap it up. And I was damn glad I did! So many insider secrets are revealed that I'll easily save enough to buy a Kindle Fire for each of the kids to keep them entertained on the flight! I did not realise there was such a huge difference in flight price dependent on the day of the week - this books reveals that and dozens more Smart Airfare Tactics.
