This book is filled with so many wonderful stories about how great Canada is, and how wonderful the people are that live there. Made me proud to be Canadian reading some the stories of community, helping one another while expecting nothing in return. It restored my faith in humanity a bit.
I also loved there was famous names, like one story was by NHL legend, Vince Lecalvier. Reading his coming up story, and reading some of the quotes by hockey greats I love like Wendel Clark and Bobby Orr, really made my day. Anytime is the right time for anything hockey.
Yup, I'm Canadian.
This story is a great tribute to this wonderful land and its citizens, but also inspirational to be a better Canadian in this great nation.

Chicken Soup for the Soul has done it again with a book written in Canada by a Canadian Co-author, and stories from writers from all over Canada. With stories on fun topics like dealing with our Canadian Winter as well as hockey and Christmas, they inspire the heart with traditional themes of overcoming obstacles, facing adversity, love, kindness, family, and making a difference. There are also quite a few stories that will simply make you laugh out loud. I particularly loved the story of the guys who went water skiing on the Rideau River - on December 24 while avoiding ice chunks. I also loved the story from the woman who found a brother she never knew she had - right before Christmas. The quotes are fun too! The chapters and stories are headed up with touching or funny quotes from many famous Canadians like Peter Gzowski, Marc Garneau, weatherman David Phillips, Rick Mercer, Wendel Clark, Steve Podborski, and Pierre Elliott Trudeau. What a great Christmas gift this would make this year! I loved it!

HASH(0x9b7f4300) out of 5 stars A Very Canadian Book Dec 15 2013
By Linda - Published on Amazon.com

Just when I wondered if Chicken Soup books could get any better, this one arrives. My Canadian heart loved this book, because, I could relate with many of the stories. It captures the Canadian spirit beautifully, starting with the introduction where Janet Mathews sums it up nicely:

"When Canadians are confronted with extreme winter weather it brings out the best in us! We're tough. We're flexible. We're creative. We're prepared. We have snow tires and Arctic parkas and hand warmers and warm fleece-lined snow boots. And of course, everyone has at least one toque. We ski, we skate, we toboggan, we curl, and we play hockey. We have central heating. And we LOVE to talk about the weather. 'Cold enough for you today?' "

Thing is, as much as we like to gripe about the ice, cold and snow, deep down we wouldn't change a thing, because we've learned to embrace winter like every season and make the most of it. That's why this book is special; the stories, written by people from every province, document this sentiment in a real and heartwarming way! The stories embody the reason we're so good at weathering the cold - we not only know how essential it is to brave the elements together with family and friends, we have fun doing it.

If you're Canadian you'll love this book. If you're not, you'll want to read it, to learn how we survive.

I recently moved back to Canada after living abroad for the last 40 years - living in places that don't have real winters!
What perfect timing to get this book and get reconnected with the wonders and woes of winter.
Funny and inspiring stories.
I love this book.

I loved this book because I lived in Alaska for many years and have driven through Canada several times and could really relate to the winter stories. Many of the stories were written so well you could place yourself in the story and relate to the incidents as if you were right there. Of on my favorite Chicken Soup Books.
