Review

"I call Jimmy Moore 'A Great Connector.' He is one of those people who has the exquisite ability to connect with many people and experts, ask them pointed and sometimes difficult questions, consider each carefully, then reach a logical conclusion. In Cholesterol Clarity, he provides an incredibly rich and deep consideration of this 'cholesterol is bad' message we hear repeated so often. I predict that readers will emerge from reading this book enlightened, empowered, and with a renewed appreciation for just how much we can achieve when we ask the right questions. Jimmy Moore has not written a book; he has created a milestone."—William Davis, MD, author of the New York Times best-selling book Wheat Belly

This book was a valuable read as I had very little detailed knowledge on cholesterol and statins. It's peppered with testimonials and stories from others, and does a great job of explaining the role of cholesterol in your body, all about the acronyms, the differences regarding gender, and the negative effects of statins. I took one star away because I don't necessarily agree with the information, suggestions, and science/research on high fat diets and their relation to cholesterol. I think there's a lot about the body and diet that's still a mystery, never mind that so much of scientific research is bought and paid for. Overall, I recommend it.

The information in this book was helpful in understanding my cholesterol numbers, and how my low carb diet affected them. I don't really like the writing style however, and I find the interjection of random quotes on every page to be distracting. The exact same things are repeated multiple multiple times, which I found unnecessary.

This book is a great resource. Jimmy Moore brings together some of the most current thinking on cholesterol, lipid testing and disease prevention. You will walk away with a better understand of the subject than most health professionals. This book gives you a clear and concise way to make steps to improve your health. I'm looking forward to his next book.

This book will be an eye-opener for people who are confused about cholesterol - which is probably everyone. It describes how conventional medicine dumbs down the facts so that the masses to simply do as they're told. Doctors have accepted the unsupported heart-lipid hypothesis that has become tradition even though it's based on deeply flawed science and poor assumptions. They prescribe drugs to suppress a natural biochemical pathway that isn't the root cause of heart disease. Billions are made pushing prescription drugs to alleviate a manufactured condition brought on by a crap diet. "Keep them scared and keep them buying", as Marilyn Manson would say. The book is comprehensive but isn't very well written, so if you want to understand the metabolic pathways in more detail you'll have to read further sources. It relies on a collection of (very good) quotations from various think-out-of-the-box experts. My favourites are the pull-no-punches quotes from Taubes, Miller, Kendrick and Davis.

If this were the first book I had read on the Cholesterol crises, I might have offered a better rating. The book is quite informative, but much of the information contained therein is available in other authoritative works by authors who accomplished medical professionals. Nonetheless,

Jimmy Moore did a great job here explaining, in simple terms, the problem with the "current" thinking about cholesterol. I considered myself very knowledgeable on the subject prior to reading this book and still walked away with some additional, valuable insights.

We have been duped too long by our medical world about the "dangers" of Cholesterol. We need to change that and view the positive and essential value of this important chemical in our bodies.
