Denise Gorver Swank is a new author for me. I enjoyed reading he Chosen series. I find she could have enhanced her vocabulary when it came to describe places and events. She has not reached her full capacity as a writer. I would have liked for her stories to be more a little more interesting in between the action parts. I read all her books associated with this Chosen series. She does get better and better with every book she wrote. I think she is an up and coming author to look for. I recommend her books.
I am not totally sure why we don't trust police officers and it seems worse in the U.S.. A mother's worst nightmare that her child is being hunted by bad men.
I'm not sure that I believe in the supernatural but do enjoy reading about it. It also shows you the true meaning of love. You are allowed to figure out what comes next.

I have read books by D G Swank before and I love her, so I was very excited to read Chosen. This book did not disappoint. It follows the story of Emma and her son Jake who live a life on the run from mysterious armed men who are hunting to kill, and appear to get help from a stranger, Will.
This book is supernatural/fantasy, but full of a mother's love for her son. A mother who will do anything to protect him, even giving up her old life to live in hotels from a suitcase. When I chose this book, it was based on the title alone, for my A to Z challenge, so I didn't know what it was going to be about in advance. As I was reading through, I thought that the child, Jake, was the Chosen one, since he is the one with supernatural powers, but it turned out not to be the case.
I couldn't put this book down. It is very well written and kept me wanting more. So much so, that I had to find out what happened next, and next, and next. Not only that, the kindle books have been updated to contain short stories, that give further information about each of the characters, so I had to read those too: Chosen, (short story Emergence), Hunted, (short story Homecoming), Sacrifice, (short story Middle Ground), and Redemption.

A brilliant Supernatural adult or younger read. Her characters are down to earth clearly defined by virtue of the storyline, you can't help but take sides, with our Heroine and protagonist Emma, a single parent on the run. I hope I've set your pallet. I'm of in search of book 2, I suspect you will too. A really well written book & content could keep you on the edge of your seat all the way through. I'd highly recommend this book to fantasy supernatural & thriller readers alike. Enjoy. Earned every star.

Another 'free' book that for reasons that are beyond me is infected with DRM that makes it unreadable on a Linux system. When will authors realise that piracy isn't a problem for them but public recognition and building up their readership is. Adding DRM to a free book is a dumb marketing move as its simply loses you potential new readers, like myself. Oh well, there are plenty of other offerings on Amazon that aren't crippled like this.

The overall story was good...exciting in places, but also at times a little unbelievable. I found Emma very annoying. I understand with all she's been through she had to be tough to survive. However, to me she seemed more of a winger and when she was injured it was worse...strange for someone supposedly so tough. Her five year old son was just plain weird! On a positive note, I did like Will. As I say, on the whole the story was good, apart from the profanity which I don't like. Nevertheless, the story kept me turning the pages, and I managed to skip over most of the bad language. But I won't be going back for seconds.

I'm not usually a lover of this type of book but I have to say it kept me riveted, a constant on the edge of your seat. It's suspenseful and heartbreaking wondering all the time is this it. At times I had to stop reading because the emotion became overwhelming. But what a fantastic read, I can't wait to start the second book. I absolutely loved it.
