Holiday surprises await two lonely hearts in Hardman

A sweet holiday romance from USA Today Bestselling Author Shanna Hatfield

Tom Grove just needs to survive a month at home while he recovers from a work injury. How bad can it be to return to Hardman for the holiday season? He arrives to discover his middle-aged parents acting like newlyweds, the school in need of a teacher, and the girl of his dreams already engaged.

After the loss of her parents and her fiancé abandoning her to spend a year abroad, Lila Granger desires a change of scenery. She leaves her home in New York to spend a few months with relatives in Hardman, Oregon. The idea of stepping off the train into a place that gives her a true sense of coming home never entered her mind. Neither did the notion of falling in love with a man who clearly can’t wait to get away from the small town.

The Christmas Quandary is a sweet Victorian romance, full of laughter and heartwarming moments, perfect for a holiday read.

Enjoy all the books in the Hardman Holidays series!

  • The Christmas Bargain (Hardman Holidays, Book 1) When Luke Granger calls in a long overdue loan, he reluctantly accepts a bargain in lieu of payment from the shiftless farmer who barters his daughter to settle his debt.
  • The Christmas Token (Hardman Holidays, Book 2) Determined to escape an unwelcome suitor, Ginny Granger flees to her brother’s home in Eastern Oregon for the holiday season. The last thing she expects is to encounter the boy she once loved, her exile proves to be anything but restful.
  • The Christmas Calamity (Hardman Holidays, Book 3) Arlan Guthry's uncluttered world tilts off kilter when the beautiful and enigmatic prestidigitator Alexandra Janowski arrives in town, spinning magic and trouble in her wake as the holiday season approaches.
  • The Christmas Vow (Hardman Holidays, Book 4) Sailor Adam Guthry returns home to bury his best friend and his past, only to fall once more for the girl who broke his heart.

It was fun to catch up with the Hardman families once again. Ms. Hatfield always makes you feel like you have been transported into the time period. Tom is a big kid at heart but the kind of man that you want to spend time with and root for. Lila is a sweet girl who has endured some heartache. It is easy to see the chemistry between these two, but there are obstacles to overcome. I really enjoyed the relationship that Tom had with his parents, fun and loving. There were many laugh out load moments throughout the story along with sweet moments. I loved the ending. Hope Ms. Hatfield will continue with this series so we readers can spend more time with these characters.

5.0 out of 5 stars Shanna has another giant hit on her hands with The Christmas Quandary. Nov. 14 2016

What is not to like about going home back to your roots and finding something new that perhaps you would have missed, something really important if you didn't go back home once in awhile. A long stay is even better because you find what you have been missing by being gone. Family, friends, small town where everyone knows each other and then a new arrival who you hadn't seen before. A beautiful new arrival that you are lucky enough to get to know.
As for these stories in Hardman, Oregon, at the best time of the year, I enjoy going back each year to get reacquainted with old friends and some new and new fun adventures, some twists and turns, new babies each year and of course budding romance that may or may not go right.
Shanna Hatfield knows how to write fun characters, sassy women who bring out the best in the men in their lives, family connections and of course romance. Shanna writes in a way that draws you right in like when her hero comes home to surprise his parents and finds a bit of surprise at home when he searches for his parents. She knows how to write about romance as she is a hopeless romantic herself. She adds mischief and sass, sarcasm, and family celebrations you want to be part of.
I loved this new Christmas story in the Hardman Christmas series with the Granger families and all their friends. It is exactly like returning home for Christmas but to find something more than a celebration of Christmas but a celebration of new lives and new friends and why not a love for the rest of your life. Uplifting, fun, adventure, and clean and hopeful. My kind of Christmas story.
I love all of Shanna Hatfield's stories. I have only read her historical ones so far but plan on reading her contemporary stories as well.
This is a MUST READ as is the rest of this series, and of course her other Series. This story surprised me a bit when a another town in another series was mention along with on of her characters, Pendleton, OR. That is another series that you must read. I guarantee you will love them if Historical western romance is a genre you love and even if you aren't sure try them anyways.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Perfect Christmas Romance from Shanna Hatfield Nov. 10 2016

The Christmas Quandary is a heartwarming story of love in a small town. Tom Grove had left Hardman to become a writer for a newspaper in Portland. An unfortunate accident causes him to go back home to his parents for the holidays to recuperate. When he arrives, the town's teacher is not feeling well and he is asked to teach the class until Christmas. The beautiful and already engaged to be married, Lila Granger lends him a hand in the classroom and with the Christmas Eve play. The two hit it off immediately and soon have to face their feelings for each other.
As usual, Shanna's writing was full of witty dialogue and sweet romantic scenes that make you sigh! I thoroughly enjoyed going back to Hardman to see what was happening with all my favorite characters. The relationships between friends and family in the town of Hardman make me want to jump into the pages of this book to join in on all their fun! Definitely a must read on your holiday book list!

Lovely Christmas read from Shanna Hatfield. Really special to revisit characters from Hardman and see how their families have grown and prospered. This story matched the high quality of Shanna's past Christmas stories.
