About the Author
By day, Ashley Stowe is an administrative specialist. By night, she is an aspiring author. Her love for Historical Fiction and Christian Romance novels has fed her desire to put pen to paper and bring her readers on a ride into the exhilarating world she has created. One of innocence, steamy first loves and feisty characters. Ashley grew up as a “military brat”, but she’d correct you and say she was “well-traveled”. She spent much of her childhood traveling the United States, never really having the chance to call one place her home for very long. Home now, is Nebraska where she lives with the love of her life and their fur-kid, Mya.

A Christmas Scandal is a sweet, heart-warming, romance story….but it’s just not all lovely dovey- girl gets boy right away type of story. No, this holiday novella has the right amount of sweet and spice to keep you guessing right up until the very end.
I loved the author’s writing style, character development, and the pace at which she has the story unfold. I fell in love with her characters, (not to mention her secondary characters) and by the end of the story I was itching to know when the second book would be coming out!
So what are you waiting for….grab this book today!!
*It will also be an amazing stocking stuffer*
I received this book for free from the author in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
I didn't realize this story was just a novella, so imagine my surprise when it ended so fast! Took just under a day to read all of it (would have been quicker if I was home alone without two kiddos running around)! That being said, Ashley packed a LOT of story into only eight very well written chapters! I found myself wanting more, but she wrapped this little story up in a giant red bow, and it was lovely!
She told this story beautifully and it took me back to the days of Jane Austen characters or to Little Women. It was just a cozy, heart-warming story of romance that started when Lydia and Benedict were just mere teens at a Christmas Ball... and then they didn't see each other for over ten years! It didn't take long for those feelings to resurface after Ben shows back up in town to accept his lost inheritance from his Uncle. (More on that if you read the story - I don't want to give all the yummy details away!) Go grab this little nugget oe Christmas joy while it's on sale! You won't regret it!
This was a brilliant short story set in the Civil War era - not a kind of era of books I like to read but I thoroughly enjoyed this.
Plus it is around Christmas time which is a bonus for me at the this time of year.
Lydia created a scandal one year during her youth when she took her friends up on a dare and kissed her crush Benedict - now such a thing was frowned upon in that era and she was sent away to let things die down.
Now many years later she finds herself face to face with Benedict again after he returns home. Feelings that have been buried deep for Lydia resurface when she sees him and she wonders if he feels the same. I loved the way that Stowe threw me back in time and how she manged to pack to much into such a short story.
This is one of those cozy romance you can read in a day when the weather is wild outside.
After receiving a dare from her friend, Lydia takes the chance to approach her childhood crush Benedict and kiss him at a party her father is throwing. Such an act simply was not done by good girls, and so Lydia is sent away to recover from her scandal and Benedict turns to the navy.
Several years later, Benedict returns when his father passes away to settle his estate. He bumps into Lydia who has matured into a beautiful woman. Unsettled emotions rise to the top and Lydia feels she needs to apologise for the scandal so many years ago but will spending more time together have Benedict feeling the same way she does?
