F. W. PEARCE is one of the founders and DANILO ZECCHIN is the executive chef and master flavor creator of Ciao Bella. Just made my first Chocolate Gelato. I used Semi-Sweet chocolate and it was chocolaty enough for us. It was extremely smooth using only 1 cup of heavy cream. Most of my recipes for ice cream use 2 cups and they can be way too rich. I had no problems with lumps or the likes and was very pleased with myself. The recipe was very easy to follow.
Can't wait to try the others once I get the hang of the basics down.
I use the Tovolo ice cream container sold here on Amazon.ca to store and the ice cream fit perfectly.

I already have Ben and Jerry's book which I like but find the recipes to be very "heavy cream" heavy. Ciao Bella is a great alternative.

I have tried a few ice cream recipe books with my kitchen aid ice cream maker, but they usually were slightly granular in texture and also very fattening. With this book, the fat content is lower (for most the ratio is 1 cup heavy cream and 2 cups whole milk) but the taste is so much better! The flavors are wonderful and they come out incredibly creamy every time. I haven't had any granular one yet. The Dolce de Leche is a family favorite as is the chocolate. If you don't believe me, try the recipe in the write-up. That's what sold me on this book and I haven't look back yet. I am actually contemplating selling the other 2 books.

I originally was purchasing another book and this book came as an additional suggestion. Normally, I am one to brush off up-sells. I am so glad I didn't. These guys have it right when it comes to making frozen delights! I have tried numerous recipes in this book and all have exceeded my expectations. I purchased this book mainly for Gelato ideas. I never really understood how fantastic sorbetto's could be but I am now sold and am rapidly turning summer harvests into sorbetto's. I know that this book will most likely become my "Go To" book for Gelato and Sorbetto's.

I had just purchased the Kitchen Aid ice cream maker when I bought this book, so I literally had no idea how to make ice cream. This book has been a god-send, with easy step by step instructions and recipes/flavours that are definitely delicious and easy find and make. My only complaint is that after you make the ice cream and put it in the freezer, it goes rock solid. My recommendation is to eat the gelato as soon as it is ready.

It arrived this morning, and after a quick read through I am itching to get out my ice cream maker and start churning. I have read through about a dozen ice cream and gelato books, this is one of the two best books I have read on the subject. All the recipes are achievable, next to no offbeat ingredients that aren't given instructions to make, such as the labne for the Greek Yogurt Gelato. I am very happy to add this to my cookbook collection, and highly recommend it to everyone looking to make their own gelato - my family's favourite is the Cinnamon Gelato, which is scrumptious!!!

This is just a great book--the recipes are truly well-adapted for home machines and work extremely well. The information is both practical and extensive, so you can't go wrong with this book (and you certainly can go wrong with many of the other books available on gelato--I've seen errors ranging from horribly cryptic recipes to incorrect metric weights and measures on ingredients).

Great book with good variety, however the ice creams are very rich, will need to find a way to reduce the fat content, but sorbets are a hit with our family and visitors, easy recipes that my young son can prepare himself and which are in demand from dinner guests.
