HASH(0xa1c95b88) out of 5 stars Good ol' G1 Jan. 12 2012

This was a Christmas present for my son, who loves the Transformers and is currently mostly focusing on G1. He's very happy with it. I'm not very knowledgeable about comics, but it looks to me as if the art is well drawn (i.e., they didn't spend the entire budget on the cover art and put the second-stringers inking and coloring the actual stories) and the stories are fairly solid. Some of the stories are actually quite ingenious IMHO. Sometimes we get a little confused trying to reconcile characters and events with what happened on the TV show, but that's probably standard procedure for any TV/comic/movie tie-ins.
Speaking of which -- we read a couple of book versions of "Transformers -- the Animated Series" (confusing name IMHO since G1 and a lot of other Transformers, e.g., Beast Wars, were animated!) from the more-recent TV show. Those were just a series of screen captures from the episodes, which left me feeling rather ripped off. This book (Classic Transformers), by contrast, is a real, old-fashioned comic book, where the stories are completely original and all the art was done expressly for the book.
One thing that would have been nice: There seems to be no information on when the comics were issued. That would have helped a lot with context. But, other than that, we're extremely happy with this book (and the others in the series).

HASH(0xa1c95db0) out of 5 stars Marvel US Transformers comic books got better when UK Writer, Simon Furman starting writing Transformers Issue #56! May 11 2015

I like this Transformers book. It brought back great memories of my childhood! I've read Marvel Comics Transformers #56-64 Back when It was first published in the early 1990s. I like this book because UK Writer, Simon Furman started his run on the American Marvel Comics Transformers series with issue #56-#64. These are well written Transformers stories by Fan Favorite UK writer Simon Furman with artwork by Jose Delbo and Geoff Senior! It is the Primal Scream and the Beginning of the Matrix Quest! I love Comic book artists, Jose Delbo and Geoff Senior's artwork. This is Transformers at its best! Highly Recommended it! A++++++

HASH(0xa1c9709c) out of 5 stars Different mythology from cartoon show Dec 5 2011
By Picardfan007 - Published on Amazon.com
Just got this after I saw the latest movie. Love the art by inker Baskerville. I wonder if he is still in comics? The later issues have much better inking than the former ones. The stories are much more intricate than the cartoon show. While the cartoon show didn't have the luxury of appealing to comic readers, the plots are much better. If you liked the animated Generation one show, you'll love tis book.

This collection of old G1 stories is spectacular. This is a must have for all vintage Transformers fans. The art is colorful and Simon Furman demonstrates why he is the consummate Transformers storyteller.
HASH(0xa1c95da4) out of 5 stars Excellent read for fans of any of the transformer universes May 26 2013

Excellent book for transformers fans. Well written with plenty of action and intrigue. This is an awesome story that I never got to read as a child .Most of my experiences with this franchise came from the cartoons which are good, but they really should do this story at some point. I can not think of any thing that I did not like in this book. The writing plot and art are very well done. Wish some one would put this into animated form.
