Product Description

The bleakest winter on record and a gruesome discovery bring DCI David Morton to the Hackney Marshes in search of a clue, any clue, as to the identity of a dead child found near the Old River Lea.

Meanwhile, closer to home, Morton's long suffering wife Sarah comes to the conclusion that her man has been doing more than work during his late nights at the office. As he closes in on the mystery of the boy's identity his life begins to crumble and a terrible wrong is done to someone he loves.

With all of London watching, Morton's impeccable ethics will be tested to their limit as he is forced to choose between doing what is right and what is legal.

Cleaver Square is a stand-alone Police Procedural featuring DCI David Morton.

With the plot based on believable characters and situations,,there is enough suspense throughout the story. The more confusing the situation is to the reader the more one is inclined to want to keep turning the pages to find out how pieces of the puzzle are getting ready for the final explanations.
As a North American reader I had trouble with the British words with which we are not familiar. Perhaps the authors should provide some explanation because they should be aware of this since their books go international.
Still, I enjoyed reading this story!

I don't know if the Campbells are real detectives, but this novel has the feel. They know details that give the reader the feel of following a real investigation.
If you like books with lots of violence and gore don't read this one. If you want a page turner that keeps you guessing this is for you.

This book was a big disappointment. The plot becomes obvious part way through. It's just waiting for the police to see it. A few minor twists come in toward the end, but it doesn't create any suspense.
