Extremely sticky - pulls off the back cover of my phone when I want to take it off and leaves a sticky residue. Good in concept but fails in delivery.

HASH(0xa648475c) out of 5 stars Works too well... then not at all Jan. 2 2011

I got the clingo mount and installed it in my car, and the first time I used it, it worked excellently, and I was really excited. however the second time I used it, it bent and detached a metal cosmetic strip on the back of he phone when I tried to take it off. Still, I wasn't too upset because I was happy that it worked so well. But the next time I used it, my phone fell after about 10 minutes. I figured that I did not stick it on too well so I tried again and this time the phone fell after about 2 minutes. I went ahead and washed the surface as described by the manual, and it worked... for 1 use. just to test, I washed the mount, connected my phone(after it dried of course) waited a couple minutes to make sure that it was sticking, then removed the phone and immediately reattached it, and it would not stick again, so it isn't due to the fact that dust is landing on the mount. now every time I use it I need to wash it, hence the low rating.

HASH(0xb748f4b4) out of 5 stars POS - do not buy. Nov. 28 2011
By T. Crane - Published on
This worked great initially. But, after a few months, possibly due to the "heat" of coastal California, the green goo got nasty sticky. If you touched it with your finger it would come off on your hand. When I placed my iPhone on it and then tried to remove my iPhone, bits of stick green goo came off with the iPhone. It worked really well for about a few months but it was useless after. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY.

HASH(0xa651cedc) out of 5 stars Works well sometimes, but terrible at others depending on temperature July 12 2011

If the inside of your car is 70-80 degrees farenheit, then the clingo will work perfectly. It attaches and detaches perfectly. The problem with it arises when your car is really hot or cold. I go to school during winter in upstate New York and spend summers in the lower mid-atlantic. During the winter, this thing is unusable because the coldness reduces the stickiness of the pad so it will constantly fall off, nearly being a driving hazard. During hot weather, like I've had recently, the pad is TOO sticky, making it a hassle to take off, making me fear I will break my phone. It will also leave a sticky residue on the backside of the phone.

So basically if the inside of your car remains a constant temperature, this stand isn't bad, otherwise, it can be a pain, and I haven't found a way to fix it. I'm going to try keeping the clingo pad inside my house, at a more constant temperature and only putting it in my car when I'm using it.

Also, you should make sure that there is plenty of space around your vents for the contraption to fit. I had to flip the base attachment of my clingo upside down to fit.

Update: I ended up throwing it away. I was really rooting for this device and hoping it would work correctly, but it is more of a hassle than it's worth.

HASH(0xa67115e8) out of 5 stars Bad design and zero warranty until directly contacting manufacturer. Dec 1 2011
By An Amazon Customer - Published on
The (probably) licensed adhesive technology is really great, but the product design is horrible. Weak plastic was used, and there is no strengthening where the clips connect to the mounting bracket. To a lesser degree, the way the adhesive mount slides into the mounting bracket is just as flawed since it can easily slide out (or break) being held on by only 2-3mm of plastic. I had a $5 mount with more durability. In my case, the bracket arrived defective. By the way, there is no manufacturer warranty anywhere in the product packaging nor Allsop or Clingo web sites. Neither would respond to any contact attempts.

After calling them directly, I got a hold of someone who said they redesigned the defective component and would send me one. I did receive it fairly quickly, but it did not show any changes in the design to fix the weak spot. Nonetheless, I got a replacement. For the new one, I reinforced the defective area before installing it, and it hasn't broken yet.

HASH(0xa651996c) out of 5 stars Quickly loses its stickiness Dec 27 2011

The product looked intriguing so I thought I'd try it. As promised it was very sticky and held my iPhone well for about one week. I then followed directions to gently clean and rejuvenate the sticky pad, letting it dry fully. Unfortunately the stickiness factor dropped about 90 percent and my iPhone frequently falls off while I'm driving. I can't recommend this product if you plan on using it every day on your commute to or from work or school.
