Product Description

"In a Knowledge Worker age, coaching is mainstreamed. The Coaching Manual is the most current, comprehensive, practical, best-illustrated coaching source I have ever seen. It compellingly teaches the mindset of keeping the responsibility on the coachee combined with a powerful, realistic skillset". Dr. Stephen R. Covey, ‘The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People’

"I really value this book. I found it to be written with wisdom and integrity and full of practical sound advice and guidelines. There are many books on coaching and if you have to choose I would say go for this one. It is comprehensive but above all easy to read and use and written by someone who walks the talk." Sue Knight, Author of ‘NLP at Work’

"It’s unlikely that there’s a better book for coaches on the market. Julie Starr is so obviously a people person because her passions for your personal fulfilment shines through and you can’t help but want to become a better coach just to please her!" Anglo American Books, 03/03.

"It’s wonderfully supportive in tone. At times Starr’s advice becomes almost Zen-like. Overall, this is a powerfully written book by a self-confident author who is passionate not only about coaching, but also about providing a service with integrity. It is rare for the personality of a writer to come through so strongly in a non-fiction text" People Management, Dec 2002

It offers new insights and fresh ideas to the established coach and an easy to follow, step-by-step approach for the beginner." Overall Rating ***** (Max 5 stars each for categories of Useful, Well Written, Practical, Inspirational, Value for money), Personnel Today, Feb 2003

"A wealth of information and practical exercises to improve the skills of any coach" UK College of Life Coaching, Jan 2003

HASH(0x9ab5b5a0) out of 5 stars Clear, practical, excellent - made a real difference to me June 13 2005
By Personal Coach - Published on
Format: Paperback
This book is recommended by Stephen Covey - I'm not surprised. It's written in a simple style, yet covers both basic and advanced coaching skills. Things like beliefs and values of a coach, postures on a conversation, as well as the foundation skills such as deep listening and purpose based questioning. I particularly like the simple exercises you can do in everyday life - they really helped me to dramatically improve my coaching ability and confidence.

I think this book is great!

HASH(0x9ab5b5f4) out of 5 stars WOW! Another great coaching book!! Nov. 20 2005

Format: Paperback
This book is awesome! It should have been titled "The Training Manual" I've bought several books on the subject of personal coaching, and I have to admit, I wish I had found this one first. Everything is outlined in an easy to read and interesting format. This book is actually the only coaching manual one would need. I purchased this book along with "The Life Coaching Handbook" and the two totally compliment one another. This author really touches every aspect of 'Personal Coaching' without all the unneccessary "fluff" that most manuals give you. This author is definately in touch with the practice of Professional Coaching.

HASH(0x9ab5ba2c) out of 5 stars Terrific book July 30 2006
By Haim Frank - Published on
Format: Paperback
Thank you Julie for writing such a valuable and insightful book. This is super solid grounding for a prospective coach. It is written out of obvious expertise and with compassion and respect for coach and coachee.

The book is very well organized and includes numerous tips and exercises. An added bonus is the book's attractive format and art.

My only criticism (very minor) is reserved for the proofreader. A few typos and ommissions crept into the text, however they don't interfere with the smooth read and the valuable subject matter. Very highly recommended.

I bought this book in 2008, when I was living in India. I could never use the book because the pages are not in sequence. I have pages 1 to 13 and then pages 63 to 86 and then from page 39 until the end - pages 14 to 38 are missing and pages 63 to 86 are repeated. I could not return it, as I had ordered the book to an US address and then taken it home. Now I need to use the book again, but do not know if a replacement is in order after such a long time. i have instead requested a Kindle edition and hope that will be made available.
