I am writing on the Coleman Cable 02687 10/3 extension cord. There are some changes to this power cord from the last time I ordered one. The cable is being branded by Southwire, which after some searching is the parent company to Coleman now. The cable is made in China, is UL listed, and is NEMA 5-15. The male and female ends are no longer round like in the picture on this page, they are now a more square offed oval. The outer jacket protects three separate inner jacketed copper cables.
The 25ft cord I ordered came wrapped oval coil style with a paper sleeve around it to maintain the coil. It's not bound with twist ties or zip ties, just the paper sleeve.
Southwire's product code for this cable is 2687SW0002

I was using another Smaller Extension Cord 14/3 25 Foot to power a 14,000 BTU Portable Room Air Conditioner... The Smaller Gage cord would be Noticeably WARM after running this A/C for a few hours and I was concerned about the Fire Hazard... BUT...

With this AWESOME THICK Gage 10/3 25 Foot Cord that is in the past... It runs the Room Air Conditioner like a Champ with NO HEAT BUILDUP in the Cord or Plugs... Peace of Mind!!! Love It!!!

I also use this Cord for my Yamaha 2400SHC Generator for Flawless Power Transfer with Minimal Power Loss... Yay!!!

10 gauge extension cord for very heavy power loads

I bought this specifically for use with the L1 charger that comes with plug-in Hybrid cars like the Toyota Prius Prime. While you should avoid using an extension cord for charging plug-in EV's, sometimes you simply can not park the car close enough to an electric outlet for the charger's built-in cord to reach it. The L1 charger for my Prius Prime draws about 1,800 watts at 120 volts (15 amperes), and when I tried to use a 25 foot, 12 gauge extension cord with it, the end connectors got uncomfortably warm, and the voltage drop was significant. This 10 gauge extension cord can handle a 15 ampere load without getting warm, and with only half the voltage drop. NOTE: This cord has the NEMA connectors for 120 volt/15 amp outlets. It will NOT work with 240 volt outlets, or with 120 volt-20 amp, or 120 volt-30 amp outlets without an extra adapter.

This would be an excellent extension cord for heavy duty power tools like a demolition hammer, table saw, cut-off saw, 1/2" drill, or large sump pump, as long as the motor draw does not exceed 15 amps at 120 volts continuous.

If you order this thinking you will get the one pictured you will not. You will get a southwire one instead. Discovered that southwire bought coleman and this is most likely why. But you can buy a southwire 25ft 10/3 for less money. I ended up paying more cause it was presented as a coleman and it is not.
