This is a good resource for passing both CompTIA A+ certification exams. It covers roughly 90% of what you need to know for the exams but also assumes you have a technical background to back up the content. This is a book designed around the tests and doesn't spend to much time explaining the technology behind the answers (which is fine, it's "ExamCram" for a reason.) I'd recommend one of the other more comprehensive books if you need more background information. The practice tests are very useful as is the software and electronic versions of the resources on the included CD.

Be forewarned that the book does miss some of what's needed in the exam and fails to mention anything about the new performance-based tests (aka simulations) in the 220-801 and 220-802 exams. Be sure to look at other resources available on the Internet in support of your studying.

The book was a great learning tool, and also the outdated CD that came with the book.

However their tech support & also David L. Prowse for that matter, are the reason it's only gets 3 stars.

When i brought the book on Amazon.ca, I needed testing software for Windows XP computer, & this is what I read about the CD that came with the book Companion CD

"The companion CD contains a digital edition of the Cram Sheet and the powerful Pearson IT Certification Practice Test engine, complete with hundreds of exam-realistic questions and two complete practice exams. The assessment engine offers you a wealth of customization options and reporting features, laying out a complete assessment of your knowledge to help you focus your study where it is needed most. Pearson IT Certifcation Practice Test Minimum System Requirements Windows XP (SP3), WIndows Vista (SP2), or Windows 7 Microsoft .NET Framework 4.0 Client Pentium-class 1 GHz processor (or equivalent) 512 MB RAM 650 MB disk space plus 50 MB for each downloaded practice exam David L. Now the staff at Pearson IT decided to do an update to the learning software that is not compatible with XP , which means I'm now using an outdated version.

I paid $30.
