Peter E. McGinn
A well-written personal look at the show by an insider
September 27, 2015 - Published on Amazon.com
This is one of two great books on this long-running British soap opera that focuses on behind the scenes information, which I have always been interested in. The other book is Access All Areas, which is done from a generic viewpoint, taking us through all the stages of program production. The Inside Story by Bill Podmore has a different perspective. Podmore was in television for many years when he was brought in to rescue Coronation Street from a period of doldrums. So this book follows the show through his eyes during his sojourn there. He tells us many details we have probably never heard before, and casts light on scandals or stories that may have been widely reported at the time. It is a great addition to my Corrie book library, and is available at a reasonable used book price.
