I liked the plot but ended up skipping through most of the book because the character dialogue and interactions seemed impersonal. The dialogue was stilted and formal; e.g., lack of use in contractions that would simulate everyday conversations. Also the sex scenes just made me roll my eyes. Disappointing because this could've been a great story if had editing.

HASH(0xa701b39c) out of 5 stars Funniest. Book. Ever. May 21 2015
By Linda - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
This was one of the funniest books I've read in a long time. Wait ... what? This wasn't supposed to be a romantic comedy type of book? So, how do you explain ...

1) Over-the-top bad boy H who broods and stares so much, I was picturing Carl Fredricksen from the movie Up. All busy eyebrows, head sticking out, glowering at our h with discontent. No cane / walker required.
2) An innocent h who's had sex only thrice in her life (gasp!) but who has the body of a goddess and is lusted after by not only our H, but his much-older uncle as well. Can we all say it ... Ewwwww!
3) The h (again) .... sooo annoying. Like, she acts like she's 12 sometimes, like oh my god, and makes such stupid rash decision, like can you believe it. But then she's supposedly some nerd in school who's studying to be a vet. Who's getting her "Bachelor's of Science" degree. Degree in what? No clue b/c the author just has this super-smart girl say she's getting a Bachelor's of Science degree and then going on to vet school. She's getting a BS in something alright ...
4) Somehow, our h has no bartending experience whatsoever, but is hired on sight at an exclusive gentlemen's club to ... yup, you guessed it ... be a bartender. Are the patrons at this fine establishment ordering only sodas and water? How the heck did she learn how to man a bar after just ONE NIGHT training with another bartender?
5) She earns tips ranging from $500-$700. Per night. Bartending. With no experience. And without taking off her clothes or providing extra "services" to men. Um, sure. I thought I was reading a New Adult genre novel, not Fantasy.
6) The H is either a jerk or a wuss. Take your pick, depending on his mood, how the h has acted around him, and probably whether or not he took his happy pill that day. Totally not alpha in a way that makes me go "hot damn!", but really weird in a way that makes me go either "WTF?" or "hahahahaha, snort, cackle, whatevs".
7) Ridiculous situations that are made even more ridiculous by the H and h's actions. Case in point ... h meets up with H at a club (that he owns, natch ... c'mon, he's brooding, bad AND rich). She sits on his lap, he's fondling her, she gets up to go to the bathroom. He thinks he's been rejected by her (yeah, totally reasonable ... *cough* loser *cough*), so when she returns from the bathroom, he's pawing some other chick, hands on her pert buttocks and face smooshed in her neck. Our oh-so rational h yells at him and stomps out of the club. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, apparently La Petite Academy is not just a daycare / preschool, but also a nightclub b/c I'm pretty sure only 4-year-olds act like that. Then again, that's pretty insulting to most 4-year-old children.
8) Sex scenes ... funny. as. heck. Really, how is our h not a virgin but there be "resistance" during her first time with H? How friggin' big was he? Was he trying to stick his entire arm in her and the "resistance" was he was reaching all the way up to her esophagus? How the heck does that even work??? And our h was all "no, you have to take me out and wine me and dine me, and really work for me, I ain't giving anything up" to "take me, you magnificent beast you" in a matter of seconds. Talk about whiplash.

This was a DNF for me at @ 41 percent. I figured that, if I'm giggling my way through most of a book that wasn't meant to be funny, then something's not right. Soooo .... if you are looking for a predictable, juvenile book re: a bad boy who thinks he's all that (but really is pretty pathetic) and the typical h who is super hot but doesn't know it and is pretty much an idiot with no sense of rational thought or self control, and when they get together, it's about as interesting as watching ice melt in Antarctica ... then have I got the book for you!

HASH(0xa701b5e8) out of 5 stars Could NOT put it down!! July 20 2014
By Bookaholic Mama - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
Liam Tarseta never knewh is mother. His father wouldn’t talk about her or what happened. He’s been raised privileged, always living the good life. Liam is beyond good looking, dark eyes, dark hair and a ladies man, he’s never had to beg or lie to a woman to get what he wants. “. . . he’s the Italian sex God.”

Harper Troy comes from a good family, two over protective older brothers and loving parents. Raised on a farm, she has always wanted to be a large animal veterinarian. Living in Chicago about to graduate college, Harper needs to make more money so that she can continue on to grad school. She’s heard that the waitresses at The Guardian Club make really good money, even though the uniform is skimpy and she doesn’t think she’s the type of female they normally hire, she gives it a try and is hired immediately. Most of the ladies who work there are looking for a rich man to take care of them, not Harper; she’s just looking to make enough money to take care of herself. Little does she know how attractive that makes her.

“She is an angel, the most beautiful woman in the world; . . .”

OMG, I absolutely LOVED this book. Liam is just WOW!! Confidant, sexy, arrogant and well off, he’s the total package. I had to laugh at one point when he’s shopping at a discount store; he needs some essentials and grabs a package of underwear and comments “. . . I didn’t know they came in packs.” Haha, must be nice. Anyway, Harper is a strong, independent woman with a level head on her shoulders. She has no intentions of losing her heart to an Italian playboy. I love the way this story unfolds. There are secrets, there is angst and sex, oh my, is there sex! Liam is a bad boy on the outside, but deep down he’s got a good heart. I couldn’t get enough of this story. I read it in less than twenty four hours; I just couldn’t put it down. It grabbed ahold of me and kept me enthralled until the last word and left me wanting more. It was so good I couldn’t put it down, but at the same time I didn’t want it to end. Great job Ms. Nichols! I give this book 5 stars with 4 hands down the pants.

HASH(0xa701b9cc) out of 5 stars Casanova - meet the farm girl from Iowa July 10 2015

The story was not bad. It had a lot of potential. I started it yesterday on the train ride home and finished it after dinner.

The h is studying for her bachelor’s degree. She eventually wants to go to grad school and become a vet. She is a farm girl. The H lives off his family’s wealth. He does not appear to do much except show up at his uncle’s club with a different woman every night.

The h applies for a bartender job at the club. When she and the H meet, they are instantly attracted to each other. I am okay with that except there was very little wooing on the H’s part. He is who he is, so girls fall for him all the time. They chase him. The h, for her part, held out the first few times, but eventually succumbs to the H’s advances.

I like that the H was uber possessive and unsure of the h’s feelings toward him, but there were moments when I thought he was flat out stupid. There was a scene at the club when they were on a date. The h was sitting on his lap and had to jump off him to avoid an embarrassing moment because she was feeling a reaction from between his legs. She runs to the restroom. The H thinks she has rejected him so he retaliates by fondling another woman when she leaves for the restrooms. She sees him in action when she returns. He wants her to witness the scene so she knows she is easily replaceable. He begs forgiveness when he learns the reason she hopped off his lap. The h forgives him and does not make him earn it. The H is really in his thirties?

Second stupid moment was when the h was voicing her concerns to the H one evening about possibly having to give up a spot with her desired grad school because the school was going through budget cuts with the work study program. The H thinks she is indirectly asking him to pay for grad school. The H thinks she is a gold digger, so he immediately ignores her that very evening after hearing her concerns and closets himself into his office while she is still in his living room. She then has to walk home alone from his place in the dead of the night. He later explains and asks for another chance when he realizes she does not want his money. She forgives him again. And again, the H is in his thirties?

The last stupid moment is at the end when the two head out to look for his mother who has Mafia ties. Why the h needs to research this topic is beyond me except to fill the empty pages of the book. This part of the ending was ridiculous beyond words. There was no point in including this section regarding his mom.

I like the h in the beginning. She was pretty spunky until she started dating the H. Then she lost her appeal. She became an immature, whiny 12 year old. There was a funny moment when the H bet on her pull up abilities at the gym. Well, she is a farm gal so it was easy for her to do the pull ups to show him up. Well, this was before she started dating the H. I would have liked more of these spunky moments after she started dating him.

Like I said, this story had a lot of potential. I liked the characters and the story for the most part. I also liked the dual views. The H was not as much of a jerk as I thought when you get his POV. He was really in love with the h, but just was not sure how to act since he was use to women throwing themselves at him. I also liked the characters background. The playboy meeting his match in a farm girl. The h started out strong but lost her edge towards the middle. I would have liked to see more relationship building between two mature individuals rather than a lot of sex between two individuals acting like kids.

I would definitely read more from this author.

HASH(0xa701bd8c) out of 5 stars Enjoyed it Aug. 18 2014

I don’t know how to review this book. I liked it. I liked the idea behind it. It was unique. But there are parts I really didn’t like. I felt a lot of parts were rushed. I felt like the author pushed through scenes that could have been expanded on so much.

I love how the beginning of the books started. I really do. It was simple, a college girl needing to make more money going to a gentlemen’s club to find work. It’s different. And it was well written. I really loved Harper. I liked how she was strong. She didn’t take s*** from anyone. And then someplace in the middle, she was replaced by a girl with very little self-confidence and who didn’t fight for what she wanted. It was like when she started dating Liam she became a different person. And not in a good way. Everything he did, she pushed him away. And then went back to him. And then he did something else and she got mad. And then went back to him. There was a lot of back and forth. And it just didn’t make sense to me. She lost a part of her that I liked. She was outspoken and had a strong personality and she changed.

And then towards the end of the book, it changed. It took off if a way I totally didn’t expect. And I started enjoying the book again. But it still felt rushed.

All in all, I enjoyed it. I wish there was more to it. I love the idea of the book. I liked the beginning, didn’t like the middle and loved the twist towards the end.
