Product Description

**This book is intended for a mature reading audience and isn't suitable for readers under the age of 18.**

Carly Jo Simon believed that Colton Weston was her future, but he shattered her heart into tiny pieces. Just like any little girl would, she assumed her daddy would always be by her side. Unbelievably, he turned his back on her when she needed him most, leaving her with no one in her life to turn to for support. Without options, Carly runs away from the only home she's ever known, leaving behind her heartache and the betrayal of the two men she loved most.

Seven years later, Carly reluctantly returns to Kentucky. Her daddy is dying of cancer and Colton is nothing like the boy she once loved and left. After her daddy passes, Carly must uproot her life in South Carolina and take control of Simon Coal Company, where she has no choice but face the pain of her past.

Can Carly keep her secrets buried deep beneath the black Kentucky coal and her heart safe from the fiery Colton Weston?

About the Author

Silla Webb is a Kentucky native, raised in the heart of the coal fields. A coal truck driver’s daughter, and a railroader’s wife, the coal fields own a special place in her heart. She is a work at home, Super Momma to three rowdy boys, who keep her on her feet from daylight to sunset. As a pass time from her everyday life, Silla started a blog-Momma’s Secret Book Obsession, for reviewing romance novels. From there, she realized that not only did she have a natural love for reading and reviewing, but she found that lost love of writing that she once had as a young girl. When she isn’t conquering the world as a wife, momma and Super Woman, Silla loves to lay on the front porch swing and read while sipping sweet tea, just passin’ the day away.

Covered in Coal is Silla Webb’s debut onto the writing scene. And suffice it to say Silla will no longer be a Buried Secret!

Carly Jo Simon was a daddy’s girl, so when the going got tough as a teenager she turned to her beloved daddy for help and guidance. But Daddy scorned his little girl and words were said that would be hard to ever take back. Having had her heart stomped on by the love of her life, Colton Weston the night before, Carly Jo leaves Kentucky for Myrtle Beach.

After seven years Carly Jo is called back to Kentucky to her estranged father’s bedside to say her goodbyes and make amends. All of a sudden she finds herself as the CEO of Simon Coal Company, her Daddy’s company and forced to relocate to Kentucky and confront her past and the pain that she has locked up so tight. Now that Carly Jo is in Kentucky, she finds that Colton is not the same boy that she left seven years ago. And the longer she stays in Kentucky the more buried secrets she begins to uncover.

Silla writes characters that make you want to pull for them (or in certain cases against them) but either way she engages you with her characters. You can’t just sit back and not feel for them and what they are going through. And her whole writing style just made me feel immersed in the story and the Kentucky mines culture.

In the opening note from the Author we are warned of ‘a mind blowing cliff hanger.’ And, YES, Covered in Coal ends in a cliffy, but the story would not have been complete without it. I would have felt as if the characters and their stories weren't given their due if everything was tied up in a pretty little bow. Am I on pins and needles and anxiously awaiting news on when Book 2 will be released? Hell yes!!! But my gut says it will be way more than worth the wait!!

I received a Complimentary Copy of Covered in Coal from the author in exchange for my honest review.

This book was just AMAZING!!! This was Silla Webb debut novel and she hit it out of the park!

Carly Jo left her home of Kentucky at 18, her boyfriend had just broken up with her and she found herself in a situation where she thought her daddy would stand behind her in but found out he wouldn't. 7 years later her daddy becomes sick and she has to uproot herself in South Carolina and move back home to Kentucky and take over her daddy's company! She never thought she would see her Ex-Boyfriend Colton Weston again. For 7 years she has kept a huge secret from him. The only person that knew about this secret is her daddy. But you also find out that Colton has kept a secret from from Carly Jo as well.

Carly Jo doesn't want to let Colton back into her life. He is the one that left her. Can Carly Jo break down the walls she has built around her heart for the last 7 years and let Colton back in?! Colton will do whatever it takes to get what he wants. Carly Jo is what he wants and he will do anything to get her back!

This is a must read! I can't wait for book 2 to be out! Hurry the heck yo already Ms. Webb! <3

Covered In Coal By Silla Webb - 5 Stars
Review by K.S. Smith
**This review contains spoilers**

I was privileged enough to receive a complimentary copy of the book from the author Silla Webb. I have to tell you, this is one debut novel you do not want to miss.

Carly Jo is a firecracker who isn’t afraid to look fear in the face and tell it to go to hell. Life has thrown obstacle after obstacle in front of her and each time she kicks life in the balls and comes out on top.

After fleeing Kentucky for seven years Carly Jo is forced home to deal with her estranged family, their hidden secrets and none other than the one person who she never expected to see again, Colton Weston.

Colton Weston is all man, from his chiseled body to his alpha male attitude; Colton knows what he wants and will stop at nothing to get it, his current prize, Carly Jo.

Covered In Coal proves that true love can bring you to your highest highs and then leave you completely broken. Carly Jo and Colton are soul mates, but life isn’t going to hand them their happily ever after; they are going to have to fight tooth and nail. And even that may not be enough to bring them back together.

This story is a perfect depiction of how challenging life can be. One minute you think you have it all and the next thing you know you’re faced with decisions that will change you forever. Covered In Coal is an incredible debut for author Silla Webb and I cannot wait to see what she graces us with next.

HASH(0x9f565f9c) out of 5 stars This was an amazing read !!!! I tried to write this review with minimal spoilers....... March 24 2014

Take an amazing book and awesome setting and you have a perfect book..... The setting in this book was in my home state Ky...I loved it .... I felt at home .... Carly Jo was strong, determined and in love , but she was not going to let that get in the way of life. She was determined to not let anything and anyone get in her way of running the company her dad left to her... Colton was hot , sexy and determined to get what he wanted .....

Being a daddy's girl to one of the richest men in her town had its perks . Everyone knew her and her family . A family that had a reputation to hold up to. Dating her high school sweetheart and going to college was her life plan. One day that plan was put to a halt.. Seeing the marks on that stick proved it . Going to the only person she knew that would stand by her was the biggest mistake...The one person that has never let her down just did.. The hurt that ripped through her left her doing the only thing she thought was best ,run........

Years later something unexpected happened and she found herself traveling back to the one place she swore she would never go back to.... HOME ...The last place she wants to be ..Can she face the one man that broke her? Can she stay away from him? Does she still love him ? Colton left Carly Jo broken but he had his reasons . When she returns does he still feel the same? This was definitely a phenomenal book. It was a breath of fresh air .....

HASH(0x9f567204) out of 5 stars SO impressed with this new author March 19 2014

Format: Kindle Edition
WOW, I have to say this book totally shocked me. I was sucked in at the beginning of the book, couldn’t turn the pages fast enough. Midway through the book it became a bit slow for me but I still was so invested in Colton, Carly and the plot I knew I needed to finish. By the last 10% of the book, I was back to speed reading so I could figure it all out only to find CLIFF HANGER………….but what a cliff hanger it is. Now I am going to have to mark the calendar to bug the author weekly till I get book two.
Carly is one feisty lady, she has ice water flowing through her veins when needed and she can turn around and be an emotional wreck the next. At least when she crumbles she picks herself back up quickly, she doesn’t do this victim thing well at all. She left home right after high school when she found herself pregnant and alone. Boyfriend broke up with her before she found out she was pregnant, daddy turned his back on her, mom out of the picture and sister in college. She moved from Kentucky to South Carolina and made it on her own hard work and determination. Things weren’t easy for her, she ended up with only a college education and a job, I will let you read how she lost everything else, but she was as happy as she could be.
She got the call she needed to come home, her daddy was dying and she needed to make peace with him. What was going to be short visit turned into a life changing event? She now had a niece and nephew she had never met, her daddy had some confessions to make and a sister who was married to a man that she would grow to hate. Now she was back in Kentucky for good and face to face with the boy who had broken her heart, Colton.
Not knowing if he would ever be able to heal her, he knew he had to tell her the truth as to why he broke up with her. Along with the truth he had a few surprises for Carly, little did he know Carly had a few surprises for him and a whole load of truth that she wasn’t sure he would be able to handle. Colton is a super sexy man and Carly knows he is the one for her, but can she ever really trust him again? Can she ever believe in men and the love they offer after how her life has ended up due to the choices the men in her life have made? There are a ton of other secrets that Carly is about to expose, some that should have been left buried but that isn’t Carly’s way.
Luke is a former classmate to Carly who will not only break your heart with his story, he becomes her friend and a nightmare for Colton. In the end he plays a huge part as to what is going to happen with Carly. I am so torn because I adore Luke and want him happy but I am not sure I want him to be another heart break for Carly and Colton.
Covered in Coal is so well written with a Southern flare to the story I just fell in love. With a coal miners theme, you could feel the tension when certain events happen. The emotions just jump off the pages and take your breath away. We have a cast of characters that are not only entertaining with their humor, they will break your heart with the pain they carry but then you rise with them when they start to overcome their shattered past and build for the future.
The suspense and mystery surrounding Carly’s family is unique and has left me wanting, no demanding more immediately. I need to see if this family is ever going to find the peace and comfort they finally deserve. Will Colton and Carly ever be able to just have the room to start over again without all the outside interference and uncovered secrets that threaten their happiness? Make sure you get your copy of this book soon and be ready for the next one. This author knows how to deliver a story that will keep you engaged and invested till the very last page.

HASH(0x9f567444) out of 5 stars Great Job March 21 2014

First off, amazing job by the author. The emotions for each character were everywhere. I loved and hated both Carly Jo and Colton. Carlo Jo is this tough, hard headed girl left with no one to turn to in a life changing event. She leaves broken hearted to start over and endures even more tragedy and has no one to comfort her as she deals with so much. Colton is the guy that breaks her heart and leaves her broken hearted and alone with no explanation. He is also going enduring his own suffering. Seven years later, they meet again with so many secrets between them. Colton has grown up and will do anything to have the love of his life back. I feel he's a little too willing and doesn't give enough space between them. Carly Jo is confused, hurt, and untrusting to anyone especially Colton. As they fight to get the love they once had back, problems are arising and causing trouble between the two. It's an awesome story and left me wanting the next book now.

HASH(0x9f5676c0) out of 5 stars Wow ! This Debut Author Silla Webb Sure Knows how to Pull You In March 22 2014

This being the first Book written by Silla Webb you sure could not tell it...She is so Talented and rank a 5 Star rating as well as any well know Author would receive from me.

This book grabs you from page one and pulls you right into the story with the characters , almost, as if you were there watching their life unfold in the Coal Mines of Kentucky.

It's a warm your heart ..get angry along with them kind of book..will make you wish it would go on and on with endless pages to turn...

Carly Joe is a woman that most people would envy, coming from a wealthy family and the apple of her Daddy's eye, but no one knows the secrets that has haunted her past and will affect her future. Only after losing her Daddy to cancer does the secrets starts to surface but should they had remained forever buried beneath the Kentucky Coal.

I can not wait to read book # 2 of this series (Buried Secrets) to find out if my own imagination and thoughts of how it will end or begin for Carly Jo and Colton really does come about. I highly recommend this book its amazing,I so enjoyed it.

HASH(0x9f567558) out of 5 stars Sick of weak heroines Sept. 14 2014
By Erica C. - Published on
Format: Kindle Edition
This story could have been so much better. I thought the plot was great and I was excited to read it. BUT...

Can someone please explain to me why in 2014, I'm still reading about smart, educated women who are weak and spineless? I don't mind a story where a man rescues a woman and they fall in love. I actually love reading those stories. What I don't like reading about is the hero cheating on and breaking up with the heroine, getting the other girl pregnant... the heroine doesn't know about the cheating but she finds out she's pregnant by the hero and leaves town with a broken heart. During her pregnancy, she is brutally attacked and raped and loses her child. Seven years later, she returns home and the hero claims he has always loved her and wants her back. She finds out he has a 6 yr old daughter and that's how she finds out about the cheating. She initially blames him for losing her child because if he hadn't broken up with her, she wouldn't have left and eventually been attacked ( I was proud of her here ). But later he tells her how he got addicted to drugs and how he couldn't cope with her being gone and she blames herself. WTH?!?! He cheated on her, broke up with her and she blames herself for not having a family with him because she left. I have a daughter and when she grows up, I pray she never reads crap like this.
How about the heroine telling the hero that he got himself addicted to drugs because HE was weak. And maybe if HE had not been a spineless, cheating bas**** who broke her heart, they would've had their child together.
I'm gonna make a rough guess and say that about 90-95% of readers in this genre are female ( just a guess ). So why can't authors give us a heroine we females can be proud of. Someone who doesn't apologize to her cheating ex. Cheating in books is not an automatic turn off to me like it is to some readers. But I definitely expect groveling on the part of the cheater not the other way around.
This book has a lot of other stuff in it besides this but I just couldn't get passed this part with Carly and Colton to enjoy the rest of it. Maybe she gets more of a backbone in book 2 but I doubt it.
