Part One to the Claiming Callie series is an introduction to the main characters as well as their situations. Callie is in extreme debt which is hindering her chances of landing her dream job from her internship. Callie starts and escort service which really bothers Dean, her secret crush but also her best friend's brother. This first part was all about Dean's secret crush and Callie's horrendous dating experiences.

Personally, I thought Part One of the Claiming Callie series was mediocre at best. The concept could have really drawn me in, but the lack of description and character development lead me astray and I found it very hard to visualize real characters.

I will read the other parts as well, to see if more character development happens.

I received this novella in exchange for an honest review*

HASH(0x9ab53678) out of 5 stars Fun, flirty and romantic New Adult novella Sept. 4 2014

Callie has a mountain of debt and a shopping addiction. She's a college senior, and has a great job lined up but her bad credit is about to kill the firm's offer. She had 5 months to improve her credit, so she hatches a plan to curtail her spending--by becoming an escort.

No, this isn't THAT kind of book. Callie's intentions are innocent--she will be a dinner companion for lonely men, ONLY. THis idea absuloutely sends Dean, her BFF's younger brother into fits. Why? Because Dean's been crushing on Callie since his voice changed.

Deans 20 and gaga for Callie--he even offers her money to help pay down her debt, if she will back down on her plan to start an escort service. She doesn't, and--unfortunately it's a bit disastrous.

How does a gal get over a libelous expose in the school paper labeling her as a prostitute, I wonder?

Anywho, Callie comes to terms with her spending issues, Dean helps with damage control, and we've got one cheesed-off suitor likely to make waves in the next installment. This is a fun and flirty quick read. Looking forward to finding out how these kids move forward---in their new "arrangement". (This romance is PG-13 for sexual situations and some slurs.)

HASH(0x9ab53d44) out of 5 stars Super cute, super short, fun read! July 9 2014

Just as I was really getting to the meat of the story...

Cliff hanger! Oy... I hate cliff hangers.

I especially hate cliff hangers when I'm really starting to enjoy myself and haven't been paying attention to my Kindle percentage read. But with books that have extra chapters, stuff about the author, etc... in them, it is hard to know where the book ends anyway! So, I was totally taken aback when I reached the end.

And I have to say this... I'm upset.

This is a cute book. Has to do with a lot of shopping which I don't totally get. I mean I know the names that are popping up on these clothes and bags but Callie has a serious addiction that I just cannot relate to. As much as you think that would make me dislike her, it actually helped me see her frustrating position. We all have a finite amount that we CAN spend but we have an infinite amount of wish lists!

And that is just the start of this really cute book.

The book is called Claiming Callie Part One and I really felt like it was a part one. There was stuff about the main characters, a bit of grief and frustration leading to some changes that Callie needed to make, which allows Dean to sort of weasel (that word has a bad connotation and his intentions are totally pure) his way into her life in a way that will ensure she does not get into any MORE trouble.

Because honestly this girl knows how to find trouble and it is hilarious. Well, some of it is. Some of it was dreadful. But all of it was super cute!

In short: Totally a summer, fun read! I enjoyed it much more than I thought it would and I was only sad at the end. I want to see the changes that I am sure are about to happen with Callie!

Received from the author for an honest review.

HASH(0x9ab4e654) out of 5 stars A great love story Dec 16 2014

Book 1 This is the first book in what I hope will be a fantastic series and if the first book is anything to judge by that's exactly what this series is going to be. I found this book brilliantly original and great fun to read.

The main characters were Callie and Dean, Callie is a university student in serious dept due to an expensive shopping habit. When she learns that a job that was destined to be hers is in jeopardy because of this habit she has to find a way to improve her credit rating. So she decides to become an escort. Dean is the brother of Callie's best friend, he's known Callie since she was young and is almost a brother figure in Callie's life however he can't shake the attraction he has to her. The two main characters were great both together and appear, I liked how they didn't actually get together until the end of the book because it builds my interest in the series and makes me desperate to know what's going to happen next.

The main secondary character is Jinny, Callie's best friend and Dean's sister, she is a fairly quiet girl who is mainly in the book to offer advice to both of the main characters. I liked Jinny 's down to earth attitude and relationship with both of the main characters and her cool approach to solving problems.

The pacing was great leaving it right until the last minute for the two main characters to get together in a slightly round about way. I can't wait to read more in this series.

The storyline was brilliantly original and unlike anything I have read before making it a truely fun and enjoyable read.

4 stars and on to book 2.

it was okay. but it felt like a lead just to sell more books and not interesting enough to make me want to buy ..sorry .. I just do not like lead ins that claim to be books. typical of day time soap opera thinking..just my opinion.

HASH(0x9aba2a14) out of 5 stars There are ups and there are downs, but not bad Sept. 17 2014

This is a short starter to this 3 part (as of now) series. Callie is like most college students but she is getting ready to graduate and her crazy spending over the past 5 years has put her $25k in debt and the company she works for may not hire her because of her bad credit history/score (and yes this does happen, so watch your spending and your score!)

So she decides to try a lame brain idea and start an escort service to get herself out of debt, but one that only offers companionship/dates for events. No sex! Needless to say it doesn't work so she has to find another way to get herself out of this debt and keep the job she has been interning at for the last 2 years. Enter Dean, long time friend and brother of his best friend, Jinny. He has a plan, will Callie go through with it?

This book is like a train wreck, you see all the stupid things that Callie is doing but you can't stop reading...or at least I couldn't. The sad thing is that I see so many people like her that are in this same situation and making the same sort of mistakes.

The book sets you up well for part 2
