Pros:
- Ease of use. This is the first machine like this that I use, but I found that the learning curve is very small. In addition there seem to be a lot of video tutorials on YouTube that use the Cricut Maker.
- Comes with a simple and well made tutorial to help get started

Cons:
- May require purchasing extra tool tips separately (I purchased the knife blade and extra knife and rotary blades from the Cricut website).
- After using the machine for a few days, it seems that I should also purchase the deep point blade for cutting thicker cardboards (example cereal box). The machine comes only with the premium fine point blade and a rotary blade. I was still able to do the cut with the knife blade, but the software expects the depp point blade.

Also, I had some trouble working with the Online Cricut Design Space software as mentioned in some of the other comments (possibly due to unstable network or internet issue ?) but I downloaded the desktop beta version of Design Space and it has been working well.

LOVE this thing!

I have used it for paper crafts, such as origami, made leather jewellery, and also cut out pattern pieces for shoes and diaper covers etc. directly out of fabric and garment leather.
I love using this for making long-lasting paper patterns for sewing, I cut the pieces out of sturdy card stock including preferred seam allowances, and add info for each pattern piece with the pen. If a pattern piece is too big for the large mat, such as pattern pieces for adult garments, I make them in parts which I simply tape together after they are cut out.

This tool is especially useful if you know your way around vector files, and can make your own. I do not need access to the projects in Design Space since I make my own, but I found Design Space to also have a ton on really nice projects for those who are less tech savvy.

The machine cuts very reliably so far.

The only caveat: I wish it wasn‘t online based, because there have been times when I wasn‘t able to complete a project because Cricut‘s server was down. It would be great if there was an alternative to that, at least!
Also, the clamps are about 1 mm off from one another in regards to accuracy. I talked to the Cricut customer service team about this but they are not able to solve this since 1 mm is within the margins of accepted accuracy for them (not for me).
In origami, 1 mm is a lot.
I have solved this problem by first making several test cuts of simple squares to learn in which direction which clamp was off. Now on files which require both scoring (or writing/drawing) and cutting, I simply offset my corresponding layer by 1 mm in the correct direction.

What's not to love about a machine that takes the tedium out of crafting. You can design your own things or use their designs to make anything you can think of! I use mine primarily for cutting out fabric and I love how easy it is to do it. The only drawback is how much waste this machine produces since everything has to be cut to fit mats. With a pattered fabric this is a real hassle. I haven't used it to make cards or crafts yet, but I'm sure it will be awesome. You will have to pay a membership fee to access the things you want to use to make crafts which is annoying, but the fee is pretty low. Run a few crafting workshops or girls night events and you will have it covered in no time flat.

This is my first cricut machine. I did a lot of research prior to purchase and was hesitant based on price. It took me sometime to commit to the decision. Once I received my Cricut Maker I got busy immediately. I had a few issues due to user error initially but after watching some YouTube videos and adjusting the settings to the material i was using, things got much easier.

The machine is easy to use, design space is free and also user friendly. So far I have made t-shirts, water bottles, vinyl decals and stecils for my wall. I look forward to making rustic signs this summer.

I am not a patient person by any means and this hobby requires patience. I can not tell you though, how much I enjoy using my cricut machine. You can literally make everything. My daughter has an original name and we cant find anything personalized for her. Now I can make things on my own!

I did not have hobbies prior to this. This was a great idea for self care and time to myself. Highly recommend to any crafter.

The Cricut Maker is an excellent machine and does so much more than my older model but I do find the Cricut design space to be a bit of a pain to use at times but I'm certain that has more to do with my inexperience with it than the UI itself.

I did have some difficulty cutting thick felt with the default blade, even when I played around with some of the fabric type and pressure settings it was still a little underwhelming, but also, there's a deep cut blade for a reason.

Pretty as heck and is a life saver for my Kindergarten class

I love everything about this machine. I suck at making flowers cause it keeps ripping the paper to shreds but I'm certain that's an operator error and is no fault of the machine. So stoked with this purchase! The app is a bit challenging to use on my phone. It's a bit finicky and sticks. If you're not going to use premade things and you opt to design your own with fine details, you may want to consider having a computer handy opposed to a tiny screen.
