Product description

DESCRIPTION: Royal White is a medium-height, digweedii type hybrid with a beautiful white open flower with light pink stripes. Our largest bulbs have had as many as 7 flowers about 7 in diameter on 23 tall scapes. The bulbs mature at about 3 3/4 in diameter. When almost full size, this will form several offsets each year and make a nice clump in just a few years. The digweedii types are highly fragrant with a strong lemon scent and are among our favorites of the over 1000 different crinum that we grow including about 350 of our own hybrids. BACKGROUND: This is a naturally occurring hybrid, a cross of C. scabrum and C. americanum. It is sterile and does not form seeds. In his book, Bulbs For Warm Climates, Thad Howard says, a very old hybrid which dates back to the 17th or 18th century, about the time the Portuguese began bringing slaves to Brazil. It is now common throughout the South and is the best known of the milk and wine forms... GROWING CONDITIONS: Flowers appear as early as late June and are great rebloomers throughout the summer and into November. They are hardy, prolific and easy to grow - pretty much plant and forget . They tolerate a wide range of soils and are marginally hardy to zone 6 with mulch. They should perform best in full sun to partial shade. DESCRIPTION OF ITEM FOR BID: You are bidding on a large, blooming-size bulb about 2 in diameter which should bloom within 1 year. Bulbs will be freshly dug, shipped bare root and with leaves March-November. In the winter months the leaves may be absent. WE SIZE OUR BULBS APPROXIMATELY BY AGE AS FOLLOWS: A few varieties can take 6 years or more to bloom. Jumbo bulb - has bloomed at least 2 years, close to the maximum size for that particular plant (6+ years old) Large bulb - should bloom this year or next (3+ years old, close to, or at blooming size) Medium bulb - should bloom in 1-2 years (at least 2 years old) Small bulb - should
