What has changed? The feed tube has some minor changes that make it easy to clean some tight corners that were impossible with the 1984 design. The safety interlock seems more complex in that it has more moving parts that are mostly plastic. This causes me some concern that this will not last as long as my old machine. Despite that, I like the way that the new safety interlock works. I just put the large feed tube pusher in place. This means I can pull the feed tube pusher straight up and out, insert something else into the feed tube, replace the pusher and shred/slice/chop it without further removing the lid. With the old design I had to twist the lid to unlock the feed tube pusher. The blade assembly is lighter but seems strong. The body is stainless steel rather than the old white body and the two buttons are black but the design is much the same as before. The new machine has a 2-prong plug while the old one was 3 prong. I have no concern there because the body is really all insulation with a stainless steel outer cladding.
The old Cuisinart came with a special 2-finger spatula for cleaning inside the main blade. The new Cuisinart does not come with this, but the blade seems to have a larger interior hole and so far I have had no difficulty cleaning it. The old Cuisinart came with a dough blade, a smaller plastic blade for kneading larger batches of dough. With the new Cuisinart, you just use the metal blade for dough. I seldom used the plastic one so this is no loss. Cuisinart has reduced the number of accessories for their food processor since the 1980s. Perhaps they learned what was useful and what was not. As with the original, this one came with a 4 mm slicer and a medium grater disk. I intend to buy a 2 mm slicer disk to replace my old 1 mm slicer that I loved for certain things. Unfortunately, the old accessories will not fit the new machine. Perhaps not surprising, given that the old machine was 11 cup and the new one is 14 cup capacity.
Overall, this is the workhorse that I expected, based on my previous Cuisinart Food Processor. I use it a lot, and am happy with it. This one has a more powerful motor than my old model, is a bit larger, but overall looks and functions much the same.
This Cuisinart is food processor is just like our old Kitchenaid. It is heavy, yeah, powerful and SIMPLE to operate. It comes with one blade and two disk. That is it and that is all we need. Why bother with countless disks and attachments you never use that require complex adjustments of flimsy plastic. Not useful.
This food processor is simple, elegantly retro, solid and powerful So glad we bought it. If you look for a food processor built like they used to be built 15 years ago this is the one. Other recent Cuisinart models are not as good as this old model so trust this old design. I think it will last us another 15 years. The motor is also super quiet with a satisfying humming when it run.
It processes the food in just a few pulses.
I rarely used my previous food processor, maybe once every 3 months, basically only when I wanted to make falafel. Now I use my new machine every day for almost everything. I cut the garlic and onion with it every time. My vegetables for salads too. I'll even use it if I only need to cut a few tomatoes or cucumbers. I rather clean the processor than the wooden cutting board.
Using this processor is super simple. I was hesitant to buy at first because I read that it was difficult to use, but that is NOT the case. I find it very easy to use and the lid and blades fit nicely how they are supposed to fit. It doesn't take any time to get used to it.
Cleaning this machine is not difficult either. Honestly, I always hand wash because I use it so often that I don't want it to sit dirty in the dishwasher. I just spray rinse the bowl, lid and the blades, shake the water off and put it back on the base until I use it again. I haven't used the dishwasher for this yet, but I'm assuming it would be very simple too.
I generally don't write long reviews
but this processor is worth it.

My next conquest will be pesto and homemade butter.
It’s a beautiful piece to have out on the counter (I got the copper color) which is great because this thing is heavy! Definitely not something you would want to have to pull out from under the counter and put away again. I don’t have much counter space, so I’m glad that the footprint on this processor is not very big. The bottom also seems to suction cup to the counter (there aren’t any suction cups, it’s just the weight that holds down the rubber feet) so it’s very sturdy, and won’t wobble or move when in use.
My dishwasher takes care of the mess on the blades and other materials and nothing has dulled or become cloudy. This is a great food processor and a great investment. Highly recommend!
