What intrigued me about the show when I first saw it on Teletoon was that I couldn't really place it. The action was typical anime in style and looks but the location always had an old European style feel to it. You know, cobblestone streets, narrow Italian style buildings, etc. It was only later on when I discovered that it was based on a South American comic that it suddenly made sense to me!
The series was considerably toned down from the original adult oriented comic which was quite dark in places and revolves around Cyber-6. A genetically engineered artificial female who escaped her creator and now has to hunt down his dark creations in order to keep herself alive and healthy while at the same time protecting her identity as a male high school teacher. (Think Clark Kent and Superman.) It works surprisingly well here.
The action is thick and furious from the get-go and while the series does have a certain monster of the week feel to it at times, it never gets boring. Animation quality is very high and the character designs are quite exaggerated so the villain has a huge crooked nose and hair styles are wild. The backgrounds and storyline are always intriguing, the dub was good, the music haunting and with only 13 episodes; there never was any time for filler. The ending is good and I feel sufficient although it is a bit of a cliff hanger.Read more ›
There is audio commentary for four episodes, two with Cathy Weseluck, the voice actress for Cybersix. The other two is "liner notes" by Brady Hartel, it's quite informative and fun to listen to and there's even bloopers.
There's also creditless and karaoke versions of the opening and ending themes, and a video showcasing production art of the animated series, one of which is a funny picture of Lucas and a shy Adrian using the urinal.
My personal favourite is the "Original Pilot", which I initially thought would be a storyboard or animatic of the first episode but it's actually TMS's video for pitching the series. It's here where shots like the twirling embryo and alternate scene of Lucas and Cybersix first meeting originate from. This also has commentary by Brady Hartel. It made me extremely happy and also sad, knowing it will be the last new thing I will ever see of Cybersix, considering they will likely never make a season two.
Great product for any fan or newcomer.

After so long, this amazing cartoon is finally on DVD. Being able to see and hear the show as it was intended, not as crappy TV rips on youtube, is a treat.Published 5 months ago by Amazon Customer

One of the best 90's shows to be broadcasted & still holds up better than any modern animated series.
Don't think about it: JUST BUY IT!!!
It looked great. It is too bad the commentary doesn't run on the entire disks, but that is minor. Thanks.Published 12 months ago by Mia
