This book is pretty much required reading if you want to cycle the trail. Useful descriptions and maps, and recommendations for food and accommodation. But, the Amazon publishing info is misleading: the most recent version is the 3rd edition published in 2002 - it was only reprinted in 2011, NOT updated. Enough has changed on the trail that a complete update is needed.

The info in the book looks great from what I have checked out. I bought in on the recommendation of some friends and the reviews on this site. It is very out of date however. For example I bought "Cycling the Great Divide" which was re-printed in 2013 and it has info from 2012 while this book was re-printed in 2013 as well but it doesn't look like it has had any updates since about 2002. It even talks about analog cellular coverage. Anyway, still a good book. Would be a five if the information was a more up to date.

We have just begun planning our KVR ride for the fall of 2014. This book is a mandatory planning resource for anyone wanting to bike the KVR. The book contains such great details on all the various stages - it makes planing your ride so much easier. I have not found a better resource anywhere. Thanks Dan and Sandra.

My wife borrowed this book from a neighbour who intends to do the trip. She enjoyed it so much that she bought her own. We have just completed a portion of the trip which included Myra Canyon. Amazing feat of engineering, I was so impressed. The book is very informative and a good read; a good investment.

Great resource! It is just getting a little dated, and the website was not much help either when it came to some newer slides and detours on the trail. In particular, the stretch between Brodie Siding and the Coquihalla Summit was difficult to navigate.
