"...what a great job the author did in the telling of this fast-paced and action-filled drama. I like how this was presented with an eclectic cast of characters and a mystery that kept me intrigued, especially when all the pieces came together as the author peppered the scenes with red herrings and some twists and turns to keep me glued to the pages as the puzzling case comes to an end. This was a great read and I enjoyed my time spent with Lalla, Pearlie, Caleb and their friends" Dru Ann Love, Reviewer

:Another great book by one of my favorite authors! I am always excited when a new book comes out because they are always good! Ms. Dahlke never disappoints! Lalla and Pearlie are magnets for trouble and they find plenty in this new adventure. By investigating a cold case they turn up dead bodies right and left while trying to avoid becoming a victim themselves. Fast paced and never a dull moment, this is a book you will enjoy! It's been nearly three years since the last adventure with Lalla Bains and almost everything in her life has changed. Lalla is now married (Caleb), living in a new state, in a new home, with a new job and business partner, her cuz, Pearlie. What hasn't changed is Lalla's ability to get into trouble, to have one adventure after another that leaves the reader breathless. Her life would be perfect, but the scuzbucket for whom the two women have been apprenticing winds up dead just one month shy of them finishing up their needed apprenticeship to get their own PI licenses and acquire the business. Enter an assortment of colorful but very real characters in a story line filled with intrigue, laughs, and human emotions. Ms. Dahlke is adept at keeping the pacing going while one character after another visits on-screen to deepen the plot. The writing is so good, the descriptions so vivid, I felt as if I was in the desert or down in a mine shaft, wherever the author took me. I never had any idea where that was going to be or how it was going to end, but when I got there it was totally satisfying. This is a delicious read filled with mystery, intrigue, good times, sorrow, laughs, and love. You can't go wrong purchasing this book.

I’ve thoroughly enjoyed all of the books in this series but I think this is my favourite so far. Of course, it could be just because it’s the last one I’ve read so it’s freshest in my mind. I’ve been completely entertained by all the tight spots and scrapes in which the heroine Lalla Bains has found herself.

When first introduced to Lalla in book 1 she had returned to her home town of Modesto, California, to take over her father’s aero-ag business because he had suffered a heart attack. Up to and including book 3 her escapades and exploits revolve around Modesto and flying. Books 4 and 5 see a change of scene to Arizona for Lalla and her family. There’s also a change of occupation. Becoming private investigators is on both her and her cousin Pearlie’s minds.

The storyline in Dead red miracle is more complex than the previous books in the series and there’s more scenic description. I liked both. And as ever the language and dialogue are sharp and witty.

HASH(0x9e2fd234) out of 5 stars The Blonde Cousins are Open for Business Now! July 21 2015
By Sonq'o - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
For a quiet little town, people are dropping dead like flies. Ron Barbour, a P.I. is killed in an explosion at his house, a big-shot car dealer goes missing and presumed dead, and a popular pastor is found hanged from a rafter in his church. Cousins and investigative partners Lalla Bains and Pearlie Mae Bains are eager to solve the cases in hopes of getting their P.I. licenses and their own business in the small Arizona-border town of Wishbone.

Lalla is a tall, blonde former New York City model who quit the big city to return home to Modesto to help her father run his crop-dusting business. Her boyfriend is the county sheriff. Together with her blonde, pert, and vivacious cousin Pearlie they have driven fast cars and flown small planes, shamelessly using their feminine charms to disarm suspects and witnesses to get the information they needed, while solving crimes in California. Recently Lalla had inherited a house and land that included an old gold mine so she and her father had moved to Arizona. Sheriff Caleb Stone soon followed, married Lalla, and got himself elected as county sheriff. Pearlie had her little ole heart set on opening an investigative business so she gladly moved from Texas to Sierra Vista. Ron Barbour had agreed to let them work as interns with him for the three years required in order to get their licenses. The only hitch was that he had to write the State Board a letter of recommendation and he died in the last month of their agreement. Now they are out to solve the mystery of his murder and just their luck, two more deaths had taken place. Will the cousins be able to solve the mystery of all these murders and and get the licensing bureau to give them their P.I. licenses?

There is humor, caring for family and community, only implied sex, and clean language. I have read every book in this series because I wish the characters were my friends. I'm just hoping that there will be many more Lalla and Pearlie, stories to come.

HASH(0x9e2fd288) out of 5 stars "Women Private Investigators Prove Themselves Worthy" July 21 2015
By Nancy L. Silk, Author/Reviewer - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
This is a great murder mystery series which I've enjoyed tremendously. It's well written and packed with surprises. Ron Barbour Investigation Agency is where cousins Lalla Bains and Pearlie Bains are working. Soon they will be eligible to get their Private Investigation licenses in the state of Arizona. Their agency mainly provides services to divorce attorneys and insurance companies and there has not been one murder case while they worked there. Both women are over 30 years old, both are blond, and for some reason, it's been difficult for them to be accepted as interns by other investigative agencies. You know, those blond jokes...! Ron's agency is losing customers, and to help keep him working so they can get their licenses, they buy the business at a reasonable price with a signed contract that Ron will stay on during the internship. Once he retires, he can go fishing! Well, Lalla and Pearlie feel Ron is walking away with some clients to make profits for himself. They plan to confront Ron, but they have to find him first. They do find him in his old dilapidated house. Peeking through a window, they see him laying face down on the floor, with flames creeping on the floor toward Ron and the window. A huge explosion blows through the window knocking them down in the gravelly front yard. They are lucky to only have a few scrapes and bruises. Their investigations lead to more murders and chaos, especially when you realize that Lalla is the wife of Chief of Police Caleb Stone. And Caleb is way too familiar with Lalla and the trouble that always surrounds her and Pearlie. This story is fast moving and reveals the difficulties for women investigators. There is also humor, excitement and mysteries. If you like Janet Evanovich's novels, you'll love these whimsical yet stellar mysteries of R.P. Dahlke.

HASH(0x9e2fd6c0) out of 5 stars If you enjoy a murder mystery you will enjoy RP Dahlke's works July 20 2015
By Ronald Lee Barbour - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
I just finished RP Dahlke's "A Dead Red Miracle" the fifth book in her A Dead Red series. As with first four in the series this mystery held my attention though the entire book. The Barns cousins Lalla and Pearlie were in partners with a local PI and close to finishing their 3 year apprenticeship when they find the PI dead and their chances of getting their licenses in jeopardy. The author takes the reader through twists and turns while Lalla and Pearlie investigate their partners death. I look forward to the next book in the series due to be published in January 2016. If you enjoy a murder mystery you will enjoy RP Dahlke's works.

HASH(0x9e2fda80) out of 5 stars the house looked like it should have been torn down years ago July 29 2015
By Hotcha - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
Lalla Bains Stone and her cousin Pearlie Mae Bains sought to jump start their careers as private investigators and bought into Ron Barbour's business, agreeing to be silent partners, do surveillance in his two beater cars that he made them buy gas for and when he retired in a couple of months to pay him the balance due. In return, Ron taught them the business and agreed to give recommendations to the state of Arizona in order for them to hen a Native American kid came to ask for him,as he turned to leave, but said Ron had his dad's murderer name! That scumbag was keeping clients from them in order to keep all the money, no wonder the telephones were quiet! Lget their license. Ron was mostly at the bar lately and there weren't any new clients ringing their phone, so walla and Pearlie flew out the door after they located Ron's address to give him a piece of their minds, but when they got to the address, the house looked like it should have been torn down years ago! No one answered the door when Pearlie knocked and Lalla peeked in the living room window to see a man on the floor with what appeared to be blood under his head, then she saw the oven door was open and ran to snatch Pearlie off the porch and headed for their car, only to be knocked to the ground when the house exploded!

R. P. Dahlke grabs readers by the throat with just the first chapter and as more people go missing or found dead, Lalla calls on her husband Sheriff Caleb Stone's help. The plot thickens and Lalla and Pearlie Mae find themselves smack dad in the middle of a cold case with no business, a loan to pay off and a fight for their lives!
