DESERT ROSE (A Military Romance - Warrior Series, #1)
“A firecracker of a book from Laura Taylor! In the beautifully written DESERT ROSE, a downed pilot imprisoned in the Middle East learns the true meaning of love when a lovely humanitarian relief worker is thrown into the next cell. Ms. Taylor brings more than one tear to the eye as she brilliantly depicts the very high price sometimes asked of individuals in the name of higher causes. But it is the joy of her lovers’ triumph over their adversity that will linger with you always.” ROMANTIC TIMES BOOK REVIEW

It was an accident of fate...In a war torn Middle East country, U.S. Marine Officer David Winslow was shot down and imprisoned. Nearly two months later, Emma Hamilton, a volunteer worker for a suborganization of the U.N., was thrown into the cell next to him. Separated by the prison wall, they never saw each other face-to-face. But each gave the other hope, courage & sanity to survive in a world gone mad. When the opportunity came for them to escape, they dared to believe that their love could last a lifetime.

HASH(0x9f4dd3a8) out of 5 stars Book 3 of the series Best One Yet! Feb. 11 2012

The compassion and deep friendship from just a touch of the hand.
That is just the begining.
The love scenes are very steamy, but this book is so much more than that.
This is so far my favorite of the series.
I usually read the free ebook then move on to the next free ebook.
Laura's writing captured me from book one. I decided to buy the series.
So far I am not disappointed.
I have noticed that in Laura's writing she does not drone on in describing the
scenery. You see it, you get it. These books are a comfortable read, not too long
and not too short..
Thank you Laura

HASH(0x9f4dd5f4) out of 5 stars Loved it! May 13 2012

Marine Corps aviator David Winslow has been held for already two months as a hostage in a country somewhere in the Middle East, hoping every day that his brothers in arms are looking for him and that they are planning his rescue before he goes insane through the abuse and loneliness he is experiencing. However, one day humanitarian relief worker Emma Hamilton is thrown in the cell next to him. Although they don't see each other, they develop a deep friendship, which gradually becomes love. Can these deep feelings survive when they return to freedom?

I absolutely loved this book! David and Emma developed a very strong relationship, which was initially based only on the sound of their voices. One day they discovered that they could hold hands through the bars of their cells - always without seeing each other. Gradually this "lifeline" of holding hands became something more sensual. Taylor described this "evolution" very emotionally and gripping. I absolutely adored that David and Emily asked each other questions they might not have asked had they met in real life. Taking into consideration that the majority of the book played in only two prison cells I have to admit that Taylor created an absolutely magic atmosphere based exclusively on David and Emma's emotional experience. Great!

However, when they finally manage to escape from their prison and return to the real life, David starts to question Emily's feelings for him. I thought that his doubts were very realistic, especially when taking into consideration what David went through and how supportive he was towards Emily. In any case, Emily reacted very maturely and superior to these doubts, which made her even more likeable.

I can only recommend this book!

HASH(0x9f4dd5b8) out of 5 stars Enjoyable! Feb. 11 2012

This is my 2nd book I have read written by Laura Taylor, and this book surely didn't disappoint me either! I read "Intimate Strangers" and I became a fan of Laura Taylor.

In the Desert Rose Emma and David begin as strangers. They don't remain strangers for long as they NEED each other to survive the prison they have both been thrown into. l think Fate must have brought them together! But is this what David and Emma think? Or do they believe they are only friends because they're needing each other for support, courage and the strength to hold on if they are ever released?

I recommend this book to anyone who loves a good romance!! It is not too long, nor too short...just enough to enjoy the story and not needing more!!!!

HASH(0x9f4dd90c) out of 5 stars Just As Good Jan. 16 2013

This title is just as good as another which the author wrote entitled "Intimate Strangers". This tale was very engaging and kept your interest because it did not dwell solely on the romantic aspect. The setting and plot involve danger and romance. The sexual tension is built up while the main characters are imprisoned in Iraq. There love story becomes intertwined ,as they give each other strength to endure their horrible circumstances. This one is filled with steamy romance and action as David and Emma come to realize they can not live without one another.
