HASH(0xa83c2330) out of 5 stars OH! OH! GREAT GUNS - ANOTHER GREAT KEEPER! #1 Dec 4 2006
By M. Hartmann - Published on
Apparently I have one of the orginals - better cover - Fab. models - inside pic. best I have seen.

Dadgum! "Diablo" and his life time buddy, David Carson are in prison for murder. David has a wife and son. Kane O'Brien known as "Diablo" needs to find a way to save Davy.

Marshall Ben Masters, whom owes his life to Kane from 4 years ago, has come to offer a pardon if only Diablo will go and find the location of the "Sanctuary", an outlaw hideout.

O'Brien wants nothing to do with Masters' plan, except to bargain for David's life - to free him he will take the chance of being killed for betraying the outlaw Nat Thompson, who rules Sanctuary ruthlessly.

Masters has lost 2 men already to these outlaws.

The Governor want the Sanctuary shut down. He is willing to work with Masters to destroy Sanctuary and round up any outlaws now living there - but no one has a clue where this legendary place is located.

The Marshall arrives in Gooden, Texas to find that Diablo has disappeared without a trace. Ah, but Mary May Hamilton starts to cast her eyes on the Marshall knowing he is not like the other men that frequent the Blazing Star saloon. She has been turning down the approaches of John Yancy.

Well you won't believe what happens when Diablo finally gets in Sanctuary.

He is introduced to Nat Thompson and finds out that he has a niece and nephew. The niece, Nicky, ends up shooting one of the Yancy brothers who is determined to have her.

Here are some names to pay attention to - Calico - Mrs. Culworthy - Mary May - John Yancy - Hildebrand - Nat Thompson, who is dying of cancer - Mitch Evers - Nicole and Robin Thompson.

Nat doesn't trust any of the "guests" at Sanctuary - no one is allowed there with a weapon - but somehow Diablo seems different and he encourages Kane to see more of Nicky. Maybe a way of keeping Kane at Sanctuary after his money runs out. It costs 100.00 a day to stay there plus a thousand to get in.

This is a great [5 star plus] story with a great list of characters with emotional issues and of how it all works out. Most of the characters turn out to be better than they are first portrayed. Just a couple of justifiable deaths until the last shoot-out. A great resolution to a complicated event.

This is the first plot to a great series [3] Ben Masters story follows in THE MARSHALL AND THE HEIRESS.[#2]Followed by THE SCOTSMAN WORE SPURS [#3]

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED --M - most all of Potter's frontier books are keepers.
