By combining a few basic ingredients in different variations and amounts you can make a multitude of dairy alternatives that premade by themselves would cost a fortune; on these recipes alone, I've saved the cost of this ebook the first month I bought it.

I've had non vegan friends go nuts over the cashew cream cheese (personally I think it tastes amazing with pretzels). The cashew creamer is the first homemade vegan milk/creamer I've tried that gives the full mouth feel (rather than watery consistency) with minimal aftertaste that tastes better than cows milk. I rave about the dairy alternatives because these actually work so well however this book covers more tthis just dairy alternatives.

Make your own mixes for quicker meals when you're in a hurry. Veganized dips, spreads, sauces, snacks, breakfast foods, etc... for those Gluten Free there are specified recipes or substitution notes when available.

Personally, I pair this book with the Complete Vegan Substitution Guide and the Even More Complete Vegan Substitution Guide for a more extensive DYI vegan recipe collection and ideas. Yes the books have recipes for some of the same things but the ingredients and some techniques are very different and I like each book for different reasons. Those books also cover more obscure substitutions such as how to substitute for gelatin to make jello and a plethora of recipes that go beyond pantry prep.

Check it out. This might just be the book you were looking for.

If not for Angela (of Oh She Glows) - this book wouldn't have been bought. I love DIYs, and I have a lot. Joni's., Miyoko's, etc, and I figured, you know -what else can be different, what else do iI really need to know?

Silly me!

This book has a lot of "mixes" like popcorn mixes, spices, and the like - as well as some cheeses, and other things you can find in other books. I do enjoy it a lot, and there are a lot of gluten free options as well. so - if you have a lot of DIYs.... - get it. if you are intrigued? get this. I haven't cooked from it - but the 4 stars come from the

I'm not a vegan, but I have to avoid lactose and soy in my diet. This book is perfect for people like me. The recipes in this book are not intimidating as the ones I find in most other specialty recipe books and are actually pretty easy to just throw together, with few substitutions, with the things I just have hanging around in my kitchen already. I wish my results looked like the photos (which are beautiful in this book!!), but that's not the fault of the authors!

I am very happy with this book and will buy books by the same authors without hesitation.
