She’s Damaged…

Dani Broussard never imagined that her life would turn out like this. She always thought that her grandfather would be there for her into adulthood and that her high school sweetheart, Jared, would be the man she would marry. That isn’t what happened though. Instead, her grandfather got sick and passed away before Dani saw the age of nineteen. It was just her and Jared until he hooked up with a local MC, The Suicide Kings… Then it was just her. Pig-Pen claimed her body, rules her life, but he would never hold her heart. Kept because of her looks and a particular set of skills unique only to her, Dani has been with The Suicide Kings for the last three years… three long damaging years. She hates it, all of it, the pain the humiliation, the fear… and as strong as Dani is, as clever as she can be, she is quickly finding that death may be the kinder, gentler option rather than live through any more of this hell.

He’s Dangerous…

Red-XIII is, and always will be, a Sacred Hearts man. But for now, he’s a Suicide Kings prospect. Tasked with providing intelligence on the King’s inner workings to his real club, Thirteen has been slowly, quietly and carefully dismantling the King’s operation from the inside out. The situation is dangerous, good thing Thirteen is a dangerous guy but even he can’t be everywhere at once and a couple of missteps have cost the Sacred Hearts dearly. Doubly determined to finish this with no more wreckage or damage to the SHMC, Thirteen is blindsided by his heart when he lays eyes on Dani. A pretty, little thing with long black hair and striking blue eyes. She slays him with one look from her damaged soul and now Thirteen has tasked himself with two missions… Take down The Suicide Kings and get both Dani and himself out alive.
For now those missions run parallel to each other but what happens if they ever end up at odds?

The bigger question is, how can he get close to the VP’s Ol’ Lady as a Prospect and not get them both burned?

5.0 out of 5 stars The Most Edge of Your Seat Action of the Series Sept. 29 2015
By Rachel Barnard - Published on
Format: Kindle Edition
“If some things are worth the risk… is this one of them?” (Kindle Location 1402).

Their relationship is dangerous. Red-Thirteen is a spy amidst the Suicide Kings MC, trying to scope out their plans before they can damage the Sacred Hearts MC an further. Coon was just one of the club girls, but the SKMC was no gentleman’s club, and it broke Thirteen’s heart and almost made him blow his cover when he sees how Pig-Pen and the whole club abuses and disrespects Coon. Thirteen won’t let down his brothers at the SHMC, but he won’t stand idly by and watch Coon continue to take abuse. At the first opportunity, Thirteen places trust in her hands, showing her how good a man really can be, but can she really trust him?

This felt like the end of the series and yet almost none of the Old Ladies from any of the previous books were present. It was an entirely different story, yet a starkly familiar story, from the other books. There was a woman, she needed help. There was a man, he swoops in to save her from her situation. But the context of the other SHMC ladies was absent until the very end.

This book was also different in that it was deep into enemy territory, showing plainly the bad stuff happening at the Suicide Kings lair and at the heart of it is Dani (Coon). She has the most gut-wrenching story of all the ladies. Her abuse is terrible and even though Downey doesn’t go into too much detail, there is quite enough to make you cringe and to side with Dani, even if it means killing off all the members of the Suicide Kings. As long as it starts with Pig-Pen, the worst of the worst.

This book had so much action and so much tension, you’re definitely going to be holding your breath until the end. This entire book was like the climax of the series.

5.0 out of 5 stars Still smarting from book 5? Then you need to read this 5 star story arc finale. Sept. 27 2015
By M.J.B - Published on
Format: Kindle Edition
After the devastation caused by Fractured & Formidable, I dove into Damaged & Dangerous unsure what I would find. I wanted answers, I wanted closure and I wanted revenge for the death of my beloved book boyfriend. I won't name him on the off chance, whoever is reading this doesn't know who I mean, lol.

Dani and Thirteen. What to say? Although we had "met" Thirteen before, it was so brief I had to look back to remember who he was. Dani, an unwilling, but resigned, Ol' Lady to the filthy, sadistic douche of a VP in the Suicide Kings MC, was a great addition to the series. Although she was down; so down at one point she had about given up, she turned out to be a really strong, brave character. I loved her.

I got what I wanted, and more importantly NEEDED from this book. I really want to tell you, but that will just spoil it. I will say though, that for those still wounded from Book 5, give this a read. Do not skip it out of protest. You NEED to read it, to get your closure, and if you're anything like me, quite the book hangover, lol.

A.J.Downey wrote a fantastic and fitting conclusion to the current story arc! I won't say series, as she has promised that at some point, whenever that may be, she will revisit with the family I've come to know and love so well. Plus I'd really like to see an all character epilogue, hint hint AJ!

5.0 out of 5 stars Read this book!!! Sept. 29 2015
By Nurse SportsFan - Published on
Format: Kindle Edition
If, like me, you read the previous book in this series ("Fractured and Formidable") and were devastated, you were probably debating whether or not to put yourself through it and read this one. My advice? DO IT!! I cannot stress this strongly enough.
This is the story of Dani, one of the women of the Suicide Kings. She doesn't want to be in their MC, but she can't leave. She is abused sexually and physically, but they will kill her if she leaves. Red-Thirteen is a member of the Sacred Hearts MC, who is able to infiltrate the Suicide Kings and get Intel to his real club. He notices Dani, and when he has the opportunity to leave, he plans to take her with him.
Their relationship has its ups and downs and multiple struggles. This book neatly sews up all the loose ends of the Sacred Hearts and they get their revenge on the Suicide Kings. I gasped, cried (in a good way, I promise!) and was completely satisfied. I hate to see this series end (Blue needs a book! I fell in love with him in this one, almost as much as I love Dray!), but it ends in a great manner. I promise you will be left satisfied and all your questions will be answered.

5.0 out of 5 stars ... ARC prior to the release date and am so glad that I finally got to read it Sept. 27 2015
By Christina McCormick-Franco - Published on
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
I received an ARC prior to the release date and am so glad that I finally got to read it. I have loved all the books in this series and this one I love as well. Thirteen and Dani are great together. It is heartbreaking and uplifting. Dani is in such a bad place that she doesn't want to go on, but she is brought back to health and shown a different way of life. In my reviews I do not write spoilers, so I can just honestly say that this book is amazing. I felt the emotion that I have felt with all of the prior books and then some
