It was honest, it was powerful, it made me laugh out loud numerous times and it took be back to my childhood and my youth. Billy Idol studied literature when he was at school and it shows; his writing style is so vivid and fluid and extremely easy to follow. I felt like I was sitting down with him, having a chat the whole time! I devoured this book very quickly - in a couple of sittings - and I never wanted it to end.
I had pre-ordered my copy of DANCING WITH MYSELF a couple of weeks ago and, despite the fact it hasn't been officially released yet, my copy arrived in my mailbox late last week (thanks Indigo!). So, if any of you are debating purchasing this book and worrying that you'd have to wait weeks for it to arrive, fear not! Do yourself a favour and order it now because, chances are, you'll thank your lucky stars afterwards.
It was a real treat and I can't wait to listen to Idol's new album coming out in Fall 2014.
I had a chance to see him in concert recently and have been listening alot to his new album Kings and Queens of the Underground.
His book is a really interesting read - intelligent, humorous, brutally honest. It was great to read about how his songs came into being - especially those on the latest album which is still vintage Billy Idol but with alot of wisdom and grace mixed in. I think what really emerges from the book is a guy not afraid to chronicle a life lived full on. He writes with surprising depth and sensitively and I found it quite impossible to put down.
