In the absence of connection with oneself, others and or God recognizing our moments of vulnerability indicators offers people the opportunity to overcome. In a world in the absence of connections with others due to human folly, ignorance, sin and or evil God does offer that connection with Him. And often the need to understand connection with others often depends on others ability to be open and honest (vulnerable) and recognizing those who are and those who are not. So for me personally this book offers for me healing in understanding that in the absence of openness and honesty trust my instincts.

My summer self improvement program included reading two books just for me :) - This was by far my favourite. Brene Brown writes with empathy for the human condition, she's an encourager, and inspirer. I loved reading this book and have shared it with friends. Sometimes we just need a friend to say "It's okay, we're all scared sometimes to show who we are - but i'll go first, and you can follow me."

Outstanding. A real book that really helps one cope in a complex world. It is one thing to be introspective and it is another to find solutions to what you find. Dr. Brown's efforts offer an opportunity to move beyond the counter productive mind noise and I personally cannot thank her enough.
If you want to get an overview watch her TEDx Talk. It is worth it.

I'm trying. I really am. I like Brené Brown's Ted talks so much; I had high hopes for this book. I just can't seem to get into it! Her writing is fine, her voice is true, and I can hear her as I read. But something is off a beat for me. I can't tell if it's how it is written, or the layout of topics, or if she really is just better on screen? I think this book can be really helpful to many people, as a reminder on wholeheartedness, or on a basic "it's going to be ok" level. I'm just not gobbling it up as I had hoped I would.

This book is easily readable and useful for the individual hoping to understand their own pain and therapist helping their clients understand and cope with emotional pain. Brown uses her own examples of vulnerability to highlight the struggles that many people face. The research findings in this book are easily translatable to clinical practise and dovetail nicely with strategies and theory from other fields of clinical practise such as schema work and short term psychodynamic work. I highly recommend!

Worthy of ones time to read. The book digs deep into ones vulnerabilities and the reader needs the courage to go into those dark shadows of personal shame and guilt to discover those encounters that deeply affect us all. Right off the top, you'll need courage to face those demons.
