The Darkness Remains by Kira Adams
3 Stars

This book is the third instalment in The Darkness series. It is set in a post apocalyptic zombie era. I didn't read the first two books and still understood what was going on, it's not that hard to figure out. I would though highly recommend that you do read them first to fully comprehend the background of the characters and to truly appreciate how they got to where they are today. Not having any connection with the characters, I didn't get as nervous when they got into trouble. The story revolves around three main characters Phoenix, Cullen and Ike. It is also written from these three points of view. The book starts with Phoenix and the White House staff disappearing. Cullen leaves to search for Phoenix and Ike stays behind to start rebuilding a community for them. A community safe from the “biters”.

This is a dark book and not a story for everyone. The beginning of the book is violent and not something everyone can stomach so be warned. This is not the genre of book I normally read but I do love the show The Walking Dead. I thought I would enjoy the book more than I did. It is like the author tried to write a full season into one short book. There was too much going on. Something major would happen and three pages later it was solved. I believe the book had great potential but certain things didn't make any sense. Where Cullen and Phoenix end up at the beginning had nothing to do with anything in the book, it was weird. The book ended suddenly, leaving me confused. There was an exciting action scene then things switched and the same two people involved were having a conversation like nothing happened. I don't know what happened.

The author’s writing style is good and so are her ideas. I gave the book three stars because I feel like everything was rushed and certain things didn't make any sense.

5.0 out of 5 stars In love with this 3rd book! Jan. 4 2017

I am a huge fan of Kira's and have read every book she has released. They are all great, but this series is my favorite. I am so in love with the characters in this series, but Phoenix and Cullens relationship is my favorite.

If you love a good action story along with a good love story, this is the series for you! It's full of surprises and twists and is easy to follow, even with the point of view jumping through the three main characters. With the way it ends, I'm expecting a 4th and cannot wait for its release!

If you haven't checked out Kira's other books, I definitely recommend them.
4.0 out of 5 stars I enjoyed the storyline and the characters Dec 22 2016

The Darkness Remains by Kira Smith is a four star read. It's on the science fiction side. This is the first book I've ever read by this author. I enjoyed the storyline and the characters. This book definitely has all the makings of a good sci-fi movie. Phoenix is kidnapped so her blood can be used to create a pure human being. Most humans have been infected by a virus that leaves them susceptible to become zombie-like creatures referred to as biters. Phoenix, Ike, and Cullen have formed their own little family unit. They haven't lost their faith in humankind and are determined to do the right thing while saving as many people as they can.

This book begins with a plane crash. Phoenix has just been in a plane crash and can't remember who she is or why she's in the plane. It's obvious to her that the other passengers recognize her so she has hope that one of them will be able to fill in the missing pieces of her memory. The plane has crashed on an island. There are only a handful of passengers and this is alarming to her well. Most alarming is discovering that they are not the only inhabitants of the island.

Back in the United States Ike and Cullen are combing the White House looking for the first family, Phoenix, the young lady with amnesia, and the other members of their dwindling community. They review the security footage and discover that Phoenix has been taken from Cullen's bed while they were sleeping. A young man rushes into the room and leads them to Jean-Luc, who tells them Phoenix has been kidnapped and taken to Fiji by the President of the United States. Cullen hops aboard a helicopter and races of to Fiji to save her.
4.0 out of 5 stars Will he save the love of his life Dec 22 2016

The Darkness Remains (Darkness Falls Book 3) by Kira Adams is the third book in the Darkness Falls series. This story is action, suspense and mystery This story is a post apocalyptic novel that brings heroes to life and also shows them as human beings that feel guilty and sometimes failure.

Phoenix Blue turns up missing along with the President of the United States and his staff. What happened to them? This is where Ace Cullen comes in, he is determined to find them. How far will he go to find them? Will he save the love of his life? Will he be to late? His counter part, Ike Glass, knows he must stay at the White House and keep everyone inside the walls for their own protection. Will he keep them safe?

Things have been hard for these three characters since they met. Will they learn the real meaning of family? Will they rebuild the world around them? They go into this situation with their eyes wide open, how far will they go to fight for their lives? There is always a flicker of hope, but will the darkness always remain? They have big hearts and want what is best for everyone including themselves. Is there survival in the new world?

This is my first read by Kira Adams. From the first time Kira has opened her eyes she has always been a dreamer. She writes to create worlds with words which she is truly talented at. This story will have you turning page after page. It will keep you on your toes and have you wanting to see what is behind the next corner. I highly suggest this story as I know you will find it as enjoyable as I have.
4.0 out of 5 stars The President and his family along with the love of your life and your friends are all missing ... Jan. 4 2017

The Darkness Remains is the third book in the Darkness Falls series by Kira Adams. This is not a standalone and should be read in order. If you don’t you will lose information on the characters and the plot. What would happen if you fell asleep one night and when you woke up the next morning, everyone was gone? The President and his family along with the love of your life and your friends are all missing and you don’t know what happened to them? The first thing you do is investigate all the possible scenarios and come to some kind of conclusion as to what happened to them all. You find friendships where you least expect them and friends become your family when needed the most. This book centers around Ike and what he does to find the president and his family alongside his new friends. When in a world where the one person you though you could trust turns out to be the wrong one, anything goes. When the world goes into an apocalypse who would you want to have your back?
Kira Adams is a fantastic writer for the apocalyptic fans. Adams knows what people want to read even if it means the world is ending in her books. Adams has an excellent plot that has developed in one book and has spread over a series of books because it isn’t enough to keep in one. The Darkness Remains had me on the edge of my seat because of wanting to know what is going to happen in the end.
4.0 out of 5 stars Fast paced zombie fun! Dec 30 2016

The Darkness Remains is Book Three in the Darkness Falls Series by Kira Adams. This series is of the paranormal variety revolving around a zombie apocalypse. I highly recommend reading the first two in the series before reading this novel. I gave this novel 4 out of 5 stars. The story is told from alternating POVs from the main characters: Ace Cullen, Ike Glass, and Phoenix Blue. These three characters have forged a family together while fighting over the last several years to save what’s left of humanity after a virus infected the population.

This novel starts out in the middle of action-Phoenix has been taken as well as the President of the United States and his staff. Ike and Ace must find them while fending for their lives against the “biters”. Ike feels the weight of the world on his shoulders as he tackles the role of leader in this story. Cullen lost his love when Phoenix was taken-how far will he go to get her back? Can Ike help rebuild a community for the survivors? This is a fast paced book with loads of action.
If you love a great action packed novel—this series is for you. Fighting for survival among the infected while finding love makes for a great storyline. This novel will have you on the edge of your seat for sure! Highly recommend for anyone who loves all things zombie. I am definitely reading the first two in the series to see how these amazingly strong characters came together.
