Overall this book is okay and recommended for the avid fan of Darkstalkers. For an artbook, I've seen way better. Feels a bit cheap in presentation but the artwork is pretty good. Unless you're a huge fan of Darkstalkers, I would probably skip this book.

Format: Paperback
Length: 0:25 Mins
Darkstalkers Tribute is the second tribute volume, the first being the Street Fighter Tribute (SFT) -- which is awesome. This time round, it brought in over 2000 submissions, more than SFT's 1300!

This is a paperback without a dust jacket and there are 296 pages. The paper is slightly thinner than SFT but doesn't affect the art book in anyway. The colour reproduction is still brilliant.

With so many artists contributing, the variety of style is amazing, of course. Some of the styles included are manga, caricature, 3D, chibi, game art, vector and many others. There's even a very sexy sculpted model of Morrigan.

Not just style, some of the ideas and concepts are really fun. There are illustrations of Darkstalkers when they are old but still fighting, Baby Bonnie Hood with mecha enhancements, Transformers-style and other wacky stuff. Looks like everyone spent a lot of time on their work.

Every illustration is captioned with the artists and their websites, which opens up more avenues for exploration if you like the artist's work you see.

It's another great tribute, highly recommended to character designers, fantasy art and Darkstalkers lovers.

I wonder what tribute Udon will come up with next.

What an amazing collection of images from artists all over the world. This book definitely deserves the title of tribute, and if you're a Capcom fan, and more specifically of the Darkstalkers franchise, I recommend picking this up.

HASH(0x9bfa4114) out of 5 stars Satisfying but not overwhelming Nov. 20 2013

Not my favorite Udon book,it does have some impresive art hence forth the three stars, but other art were almost as if they got third grade artis and piled it all together. not to mention the quality (i know udon's issues with their fragile spine copilies) at first looked amazing but after a few days i already had a teared on the back and some of the pages are getting lose.

they need to improve this!

HASH(0x9bfa4c30) out of 5 stars Very Much Worth the Money Jan. 13 2010
By Walter Riley - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
As a tremendous fan of the series, I highly recommend this book. Not just for fans, but even people who aren't familiar with the series or who just love horror and fantasy. I showed it to my family and they were absolutely blown away with the quality of the art in this book. I even inspired one of my cousins to seek out prints of all of the art pieces! She's become quite a fan of the series =]. Although I didn't purchase the soft cover (I have the hardback), and though it was about $60 more than this version, I can completely say that it was worth every single penny to own such a delightful book that is an ode to one of my favorite series and titles in all of media.
HASH(0x9bfa44d4) out of 5 stars This is the BEST artwork I've seen from Darkstalkers! Feb. 17 2013

The shipment was fast and the product was in perfect condition. I got it spiral bound for about $3.00 because I did not want to put any creases in the book. You will be amazed from the outstanding artwork of the Darkstalkers! I am very satisfied with this product!
HASH(0x9bfa4bc4) out of 5 stars Just Buy It !!! Jan. 30 2014
By Weikuang Wong - Published on Amazon.com

Some people collect stamps, coins, baseball cards or comic books. I don't do that. Instead, I collect all the best art books. If you collect art books like I do I would say definitely buy this one. The artwork is just amazing!!! If I could give this more than 5 stars, I definitely would.

This book doesn't teach you how to become a better artist. It just shows a collection of artwork from some of the best artists. I don't mind if an art book doesn't teach me any new techniques as long as the artwork in the book somehow inspires me to become a better artist. This book makes me want to practice harder so that someday I could be as good as these artists.

I would recommend this book to teens and adults but not children. I also own almost all the other Udon Entertainment art books and I would like to take the time to recommend them all. In my opinion Udon is just the best of the best. I don't work for them. I don't get paid by them. I'm just a fan of their art books.
