Product Description

A new breed of horror roams the streets of Los Angeles. It's the Darkwolf, a vicious werewolf with a thirst for blood--and a lust for Josie, a sexy, unsuspecting woman with a mysterious power she is only to beginning to understand. Once the Darkwolf catches Josie's scent, nothing can stop his insatiable hunger to mate with her…and he'll kill anyone who gets in his way!

Amazon.ca

Darkwolf, a half-breed hybrid werewolf, is terrorizing the streets of L.A. with evil plans to take over the world. Following on the bloody trail is strong yet sensitive L.A.P.D. detective Steve Turley (Ryan Alosio). Steve is part of a special investigative team that's tracking this very particular (and hairy) killer. It's up to him to destroy Darkwolf before he/it mates with a purebred, which will secure the future of the werewolf lineage. Meanwhile, Steve clues into the fact that his cute gal pal Josie (Samaire Armstrong) may be more than she seems as she starts going through a series of inexplicable "changes." Looking a lot like Melrose Place extras, the inspired and often nude cast do their very best to battle horrific dialogue, a nonsensical script, and a barely there budget. On the plus side, Tippi Hendren (The Birds) has a small role. Darkwolf is half man, half beast, and pure schlock. --Matt Wold

What else can I say? As a huge fan of werewolf movies, I was highly disappointed in the film. Horrible acting, lack of story and 1980s Mac computer level special effects, all combined make one waste of time.

As for the DVD itself: the picture and sound are fine, the special features acceptable and the disc played fine.

I love werewolf movies. I'll give any one a chance. I even went to see "An American Werewolf in Paris," knowing it would stink. Cripes, I even rented "Ginger Snaps"! But "Darkwolf" did not deserve the rusted penny stuck to the bottom of my shoe. It is terrible. I'm almost at a loss for words. The werewolf effects are lousy. The lead actors have no charisma. The plot is a bland, by-the-numbers, "that thing killed my partner" cliche-ridden bore. There is so much pointless, gratuitous nudity, even the horniest of teen boys will never want to see another breast as long as they live. (This movie ought to be transferred to the soft core porn section of the video store.) It is a disgrace to the intelligence of all mammals.
I'm not bitter or biased. I'm trying to be completely objective. I even, on occasion, watch a horrible movie on purpose just so I can laugh at it and have a good time. But "Darkwolf" is not a good time. It will leave you feeling dirty, empty, and sad. It aspires to nothing and achieves great success.

Reading some of these other reviews, I cannot for the life of me figure out why so many people like this movie. It is wretched. It was recommended to me by the clerk at my local video store, who promised me it had "the best transformation effects ever!" She was so wrong, I wish there was a way I could successfully sue her to get my two bucks back. I think she meant to say "worst" f/x ever. And the rest of the movie follows suit. Half the "plot" of the movie only exists to present one nudity-laden scene after another. This is insulting. And I'm male! I like seeing beautiful women naked! But I also like movies to have at least SOME substance to them. I could go on listing reasons why this movie reeks to high heaven, but if you're reading this, chances are you're considering watching it no matter what I say. So go ahead. But you have been warned. Why do so many people like this bomb? And where are their doctors? I just don't get it...

it's easy to say my life is over when i've seen too much stupidly god awful horror movies. i'd pull the trigger before watching this movie if I were you folks. starts off at a strip joint which is a nice beginning by the way, dumb, idiotic piece about hybrid werewolves pummels into a mess with its own self. Jaime Bergman who was the chick cop killed in the hospital played on Son Of The Beach and is also David Boreanaz's, Tv's Angel, wife. Nudity is a bundle in this and the mindnumbing laughable special effects with the person computerized transforming doesnt help it. It's a junk pile to begin with. Stephen Williams from Route 666 is also in this and he dies at the beginning and Kane Hodder who played Jason in like 8 of the Jason movies plays the biker werewolf hybrid. a ***king waste

If it's possible to wear out a DVD, I've done it with Darkwolf. After watching it at least 100 times, I finally decided that if the producers made a sequel, I could give my worn out DVD of the original movie a rest. Why have I watched is so much? Well, for starters, it's just a plain old good B-Movie. It has everything that one would expect in this type of film, and more. My girlfriend and I especially like the sequence that takes place on the roof between sexy Sasha Williams and Andrea Bogart. Why haven't we seen more of these two actresses?
If I were stranded on a deserted island, I would take a gameboy, a DVD player, a copy of "War and Peace" and Darkwolf! Hopefully by the time my boat get's shipwrecked, Darkwolf 2 will be in my posession!

Kane Hodder, world famous for his portrayal of Jason in the "Friday the 13th" movies is a force to be reckoned with in "DarkWolf". Not only is he the only Jason in my mind, but he's fantastic as the human form of DarkWolf. You gotta see him in his biker uniform, transforming into the wolf creature.
This movie is not only worth seeing for Kane, but Playboy Bunny and "Son of the Beach" series star Jamie Bergman is very cool too. Along with Alexis Cruz from "Stargate" and Steven Williams from "Twenty-One Jump Street," DarkWolf packs a lot of wallop!
DarkWolf is just plain fun and not to be taken too seriously. If you just sit back and watch the stellar "B"cast do their thing, you can't go wrong!

I really like horror films and make it a point to watch at least one or two new ones a week. Nobody really expects a low budget horror film to be really good, but surprisingly, I watched one this week that really was excellent. The film, Darkwolf is worth taking a look at for a lot of reasons. Here's my list of reasons why Darkwolf stands out from all the other horror films I've seen recently.
1) Really good story. People who claim the plot of this movie is stupid, don't really know how horror films are supposed to be. There's enough good story here to keep you watching for way more than the 95 minutes running time.
2) Good acting. The cast is surprisingly good. I've seen lots of them on TV, like Samaire Armstrong who is star of the television series, "The OC." She's really cute and really a good actress. Also Jamie Bergman who was in Howard Stern's TV series "Son of the Beach." and Playboy. Sasha Williams was also one of the Power Rangers. Others that are in the film are Kane Hodder who played Jason in all the "Friday, the 13th" movies, Alexis Cruz who was in Stargate, and Tippie Hedren who was in a bunch of Alfred Hitchcock films including "The Birds" which is a favorite of mine.
3) Hot Babes and more hot babes! Horror films are supposed to have hot babes and this one has more than almost all the rest put together. The good part about it is they are cool hot babes, not just stupid bimbos like most horror films. I wouldn't mind marrying any one of them. Did I mention that there is a lot of flesh too and flesh is a good thing. I won't tell you much about it, but there's this naked dance scene you got to see. Just see it and you'll know what I'm talking about.
4) Darkwolf is a really good creature.
