About the Author

Marla Heller is a Registered Dietitian, and holds a Master of Science in Human Nutrition and Dietetics from the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) where she completed doctoral course work in public health, specializing in Behavior Sciences and Health Promotion. Marla is experienced in a wide variety of nutrition counseling specialties. She has been an adjunct clinical instructor in the Department of Human Nutrition and Dietetics at UIC, teaching courses on food science and nutrition counseling, and has also taught at Dominican University, National-Louis University, and the Cooking and Hospitality Institute of Chicago (a chef-training school).

A very simple system of weight control with no hunger or cravings. Once you eliminate refined carbs you do not crave them. My wife and I found this method fits our life style and it seems that we even have trouble eating all that is required to do the first two week program. We are satisfied with what is on the program and intend on staying on it longer than the original two weeks. We have lost the weight that the diet promises and have stayed to the books requirements with no faltering. Of course you must be committed and stay away from alcohol etc. If you want to get to your goal weight it takes effort but this way of eating does the trick and you add other foods as you move along in time. We followed the Makers diet for some time and found it great but after months of denying certain types of food including coffee we faltered some what and needed a change. This Dash diet is similar but you are allowed bacon and coffee one of our desires

I've been on many diets but none gave me results like The Dash Diet. I love thus book it not only guides you a long the way but it teaches you life changes and explains why. It's a must read if you hate diets.

The first two weeks are very tough but life gets easier when you are able to start introducing grains back into the diet. I lost over 90lbs doing this diet, the everyday dash diet cookbook is a great companion.
