Little David grew up in Leicester on the campus of a university, where his father was a professor. As a child, he spent hours in the science library, collating his own specimens and creating a mini animal museum. When he was old enough to go to university, he studied science and zoology – but what he wanted most of all was to be close to the animals he was studying.
So, he started working in television, visiting animals in their natural habitats and telling the world the untold stories of these animals. Little David went on to become one of the most celebrated environmentalists on the planet, teaching generation after generation about the importance of the natural world.
This moving book features stylish and quirky illustrations and extra facts at the back, including a biographical timeline with historical photos and a detailed profile of the broadcaster's life.

Review
'These books are designed with admirable simplicity… the difficult, often traumatic detail of an entire life is distilled with tremendous skill into its essence; the result is age-appropriate for yet unpatronising to five-year-olds, and hums with a sense of transgressive inspiration’
―The Times Literary Supplement
'One of a series of illustrated biographies designed for young readers, this describes naturalist David Attenborough’s life-long passion for and concern about looking after the natural world.’―Bishop’s Stortford Independent
'Strikingly illustrated, they’re superb first biographies for younger readers.’
―Huffington Post
"We were utterly charmed by this stylish book."―The Evening Standard

About the author

¡Hola! My name is Maria Isabel Sánchez Vegara and I’m a writer and creative director from Barcelona. When I was a little girl, I used to read books under the covers with a flashlight once my mom had turned the light off. I always wanted to be a writer… but when I grew up, I ended up in advertising. It was a lot of fun though; I loved working with directors, photographers, designers, and I also wrote scripts, documentaries and texts for all kind of things.
Then, I decided to self-publish a book that had been in my mind for a long time. One day, one thousand copies of the book arrived at my home – I had no idea what I was going to do with them! I opened a little online shop, offered them to some pretty stores in my neighborhood and, one by one, I sold them all. Soon, publishing houses started to approach me to write books, but I was working on another idea of my own: a series about little people with BIG dreams.

I didn’t know some of these facts about Sir David Attenborough before reading this book. For example, there are many species of plants and animals named after him, such as a frog named Pristimantis Attenboroughi. He is an inspiring man who has done a lot of work to preserve our natural planet.
This is a great story to teach children about the life of Sir David Attenborough.
Thank you Frances Lincoln for providing a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

For the first couple of pages it was honestly like reading about my twins, and I'd be lying if I said I didn't harbour secret hopes that they will become the David Attenborough's of their generation!
When a child truly admires and loves someone in the public eye - especially when that person is of the generation that David is (in comparison to 6 year olds), and one of the most wonderful humans on earth - it lights up my heart that they can read about that person's beginnings, and see that anything is possible, and their dreams to do the same as David ARE accessible to them too.... How wonderful and inspirational.
I hope that makes sense!

The pages feel like really nice paper. The illustrations are just mesmerisingly beautiful.
Superb storyline very informative.
