Why would I recommend this book:
1)Timeless Ideas: If you are a Christian and your relationship with God seems a little dull, this will help it to become a lot brighter. If you are not a Christian, Dr. Trimm uses a lot of different quotes and stories which come from authors who are not Christians (such as James Allen, As A Man Thinketh), to get timeless ideas across on living a fulfilled life.
2)Not Time Consuming: The book is not time consuming. The 40 days are to be done in 5 day increments over a period of 8 weeks. By time I've completed my book, I would have spent 90 days on it. Although the daily readings is short, the ideas and challenges will make you want to stop and think.
3)A Wonderful Way To Fast: Usually I try to juice fast for 40 days during the beginning of the year, but this year I opted instead to do I felt like I needed to do something, but I decided my mind, my mouth and my heart needed a fast. And this was a wonderful way to start the year.
If you choose to purchase the book, here are some additional items which I've found helpful to have:
~A journal, or a copy of the Soul Fast Journal, or you can download the Soul Fast App for $1.99
~A couple of friends who are willing to do the Soul Fast with you. It makes the journey fun, plus you have someone to talk to about the changes happening in your life.
~Scheduled appointments for time to just meditate on the challenges each day. It can be 15 minutes, 30 minutes or 1 hour. Honoring yourself this way will make the Soul Fast even more rewarding.
I truly can say I am so content with who I am and who I know I'm becoming. I feel different than I have in the last 20 years and it's all been due to Dr. Cindy Trimm's book Soul Fast.
By the way, it's not just a book for women:))
I recommend this book to anyone that is tired of abstaining from food for 3,5,10, or 30 days just to return right back to the same self you were trying to be freed from before you started the 'fast'. It's not about abstaining from food, but more about abstaining from thoughts and self-destructive behaviors that you've been dealing with and covering up for so long.
